Bollywood Hungama over Pinkvilla
[edit]Please keep in mind that Bollywood Hungama is the top source for all films especially Hindi Films. This boxoffice source is dominant over other sources especially for Hindi films. Pinkvilla is usually used if boxoffice source from bollywood hungama does not exist or is of non-hindi films. RangersRus (talk) 11:44, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
- In the List of highest-grossing Indian films page, for Bollywood films like Dangal, Jawan, Pathaan, Stree 2, etc both Pinkvilla and Bollywood Hungama have been consistently used to give a range for the Box office and also having multiple sources for Box Office would reduce dependency on just one article right?
- Also for example of film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Hungama reported 423 but Pinkvilla reported 371 which is a difference of around 50 crore which is quite significant number. So having a range here would be ideal right? Tonyy Starkk (talk) 12:50, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
- When you have credible source as Bollywood Hungama with such detail on worldwide gross figures, no other source is used to create range for especially hindi films. Pinkvilla is considered secondary to bollywood hungama for hindi films. However, Pinkvilla is primary for non-hindi films and bollywood hungama is secondary to none as its collection is only from the hindi region for south films. Pinkvilla is primary and most credible for non-hindi films. But with non-hindi films many sources without reports from sacnilk and the makers can be attributed to give it a range. But you can add Pinkvilla source to hindi films if you want to as a range like you did earlier as long as no one has concern. I am ok if you would like to revert my change. RangersRus (talk) 13:09, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
- I have seen both articles have published similar numbers for most Bollywood films, but when the numbers has a significant difference for example like more than 20 crores, then I guess a range could be ideal. Your opinion on this? Tonyy Starkk (talk) 13:24, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
- Yes i think you saw my reply little too early :) In earlier reply, I said But you can add Pinkvilla source to hindi films if you want to as a range like you did earlier as long as no one has concern. I am ok if you would like to revert my change. I have already self reverted myself where you added the range to. RangersRus (talk) 13:31, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
- Cool, thanks for your opinion Tonyy Starkk (talk) 13:36, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
- There are many reliable sources in your given list but why you only consider Pinkvilla? Then how does it make sense that you are providing reliable sources list?
- though we are providing reliable sources but you are putting it back to Pinkvilla.
- what is the credibility does Pinkvilla has over other reliable sources?
- Pinkvilla numbers are not reliable, they never publish these numbers are referring to whether Grosss or Net or Share. Shan79 (talk) 23:56, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
- though we are providing reliable sources but you are putting it back to Pinkvilla. What source you provided? Was it independent of reports from Sacnilk and the makers? Was it the latest report than Pinkvilla? Pinkvilla is reliable source and they mention gross in the reports. RangersRus (talk) 01:09, 22 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Shan79, as I can see you have added source from 'bollymoviereviewz' which is an unreliable source as per Wikipedia:ICTFSOURCES.
- Also you have added source from Indian Express which is a reliable source but they have reported the collection based on the Producers twitter post, which might be considered unreliable. But you can raise a query about this in the Wikipedia:WikiProject Film/Indian cinema task force talk page. Tonyy Starkk (talk) 06:19, 22 January 2025 (UTC)
- Also as per Wikipedia:ICTFMOS, there is a line which states "There is significant corruption surrounding these financial details and figures are often inflated and deflated by producers and competitors for various reasons of self-interest."
- According to this, collections from the producers seems to be unreliable. Tonyy Starkk (talk) 06:24, 22 January 2025 (UTC)
- Later I have updated Indian express and recently updated Times of India but you are reverting though they are reliable sources.

- Times of India is not a reliable source as per Wikipedia:ICTFSOURCES Tonyy Starkk (talk) 07:53, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
- TOI source you shared has report from "Sacnilk". I told you before again and again and again and again that sources with report from Sacnilk and the makers are unreliable. RangersRus (talk) 12:23, 25 January 2025 (UTC)

I am very busy when some other changes. If you have some spare time, please update this page List of highest-grossing Indian films with Pushpa 2 boxoffice range. RangersRus (talk) 17:59, 22 January 2025 (UTC)
- The final collections are here [1], can you update this @RangersRus as the page is protected. Tonyy Starkk (talk) 11:19, 1 February 2025 (UTC)
While Pinkvilla predicts it'll end its theatrical run with 50-crore something, this suggests it has already grossed over 60 crore worldwide. Should we consider Ramesh Bala a RS? Here is his Twitter page, verified. Kailash29792 (talk) 15:30, 24 January 2025 (UTC)
- I am not sure if India today collection reported from tweets can be taken as reliable. However you can raise a query in the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Film/Indian cinema task force talk page to get this clarified. Tonyy Starkk (talk) 07:47, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
