Dato' Mohd Salleh bin Hashim is a Malaysian corporate executive and entrepreneur. He is best known as the Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Gopeng Berhad [Gopeng Berhad], a public-listed company listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia. Salleh is noted for transforming the company into a multifaceted organisation with strategic interests in agriculture, real estate, and renewable energy. He previously held key leadership roles at Perak-Hanjoong Simen Sdn Bhd and was a board member of KFC Holdings (Malaysia) Bhd.

Early life and education

Mohd Salleh was born in Perak, Malaysia in 1947. From a young age, he demonstrated an aptitude for analytical thinking and business. Perak State Development Corporation (PSDC)

Following his graduation, Salleh joined the Perak State Development Corporation, a government-linked company focused on economic growth and industrialisation in the state. His tenure at PSDC exposed him to large-scale planning and intergovernmental collaboration. Perak-Hanjoong Simen Sdn Bhd

Salleh later became the Managing Director of Perak-Hanjoong Simen Sdn Bhd, a prominent cement manufacturing firm located in Padang Rengas. The company played a crucial role in supplying materials for national infrastructure projects. Under his leadership, the firm expanded its operational output to 3 million tonnes per annum for clinker and 3.4 million tonnes per annum for cement. Gopeng Berhad

Mohd Salleh joined Gopeng Berhad as a board member in 1993. He was appointed Managing Director in 1996 and became Executive Chairman and CEO in 2006. Under his leadership, the company restructured its legacy mining interests and shifted focus towards sustainable sectors including oil palm cultivation, real estate, solar energy, and agrotech ventures.

Gopeng Berhad owns and manages over 1,434 hectares of oil palm plantations in the Kota Bahroe Estate, much of which was reclaimed from disused mining land. Approximately 73% of the estate was previously a tin mining area. Solar energy

The crown jewel of Gopeng Berhad's green initiatives is the 50MWac solar photovoltaic (PV) facility developed in Kampar via its subsidiary GBS Suria Sdn Bhd. The plant cost RM218.76 million and represents one of the largest privately owned solar facilities in Malaysia.
