Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.
Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level
Request a specific edit to a protected page

Current requests for increase in protection level
Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or, failing that, the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Reason: Persistent IP vandalism – Requesting temporary semi-protection for the Abhira dynasty article. Multiple IPs are repeatedly removing well-sourced historical content and inserting unsourced claims (e.g., falsely linking Abhiras to Marathas), often without edit summaries or justification. This is disrupting the article's integrity. Restorations have already been made, but vandalism persists. Please consider semi-protection to prevent further disruption.
Temporary full protection: Persistent vandalism – Per WP:PINKLOCK, template protection is not correct here, since the page is not protected due to its transclusion count (the 1 transclusion is the talk page). Requesting upgrade to full protection which does not go against WP:PP. Warudo (talk) 13:49, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
- Since Poolvobx has been indeffed and globally locked, I am unsure why we need even full protection at the moment. Daniel Case (talk) 20:49, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite extended confirmed protection: WP:RUSUKR. Srich0731 (talk) 00:40, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite extended-confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement. Self-explanatory. Freedoxm (talk · contribs) 05:21, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: as in past months (see this request in December 2024), persistent vandalism about handball club transfers: someone with multiple IP constantly adds hypothetical (or not confirmed yet) transfers (see ? on each item here for instance). Maybe those transfers will be confirmed in future, but Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia and not a Crystal ball. By the way he never give any source, even for official transfers.
And sometimes the reverts go along with insults, as in this previous request or his 3 last reverts on Veszprém KC: "i see your back old friend, the scorpion to my spider man, the joker to my batman", "yo jack a** 99% of your crystal ball bull s*** came true, go back to your rat hole", "F YOU". Of course, as in the past, this club is not the only one targeted (see here for instance in May or most of my contribs. PS : I'm French so my contribs are mainly in wiki.fr and I'm a small contributor here), but Veszprém KC is actually the worst and the only with insults. Thanks LeFnake (talk) 09:01, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
Temporary pending changes: BLP policy violations. Entranced98 (talk) 09:54, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – IPs removing content from the lead repeatedly. Article is already pending changes protected (indefinitely). Vestrian24Bio 10:12, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – Per Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Palestine-Israel articles 5#ECP by default. Absolutiva (talk) 11:13, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – Comes under WP:ARBPIA. Entranced98 (talk) 11:21, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Skitash (talk) 12:34, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Request incresase to extended confirmed for at least 90 days, following repeated vandalism and onging discussion on tp by surprising number of confirmed accounts pushing to have ICE labbelled as "gestapo". Thanks - \\'cԼF 13:04, 21 June 2025 (UTC)

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Materialscientist (talk) 08:11, 22 June 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Feels more like an edit war for me. CreatorTheWikipedian2009 (talk) 08:30, 22 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing by unregistered users.
StephanSnow (talk) 10:40, 22 June 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – After protection had previously expired, this page has been subject to repeated addition of unsourced content by an IP-hopping vandal, past multiple warnings and a block. Could do with protection until 1 July. ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 10:50, 22 June 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – As above, chronic addition of unsourced content from IP-hopping vandal. ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 10:57, 22 June 2025 (UTC)

Current requests for reduction in protection level
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Unprotection: Protection no longer needed after 16 years, which was semi-protected back in 2009. Absolutiva (talk) 10:57, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
- Pinging protecting admin @Future Perfect at Sunrise. Entranced98 (talk) 15:56, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
- Noting that the article falls under Wikipedia:Contentious topics/Balkans or Eastern Europe.-- Ponyobons mots 16:25, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Only 12 transclusions. Not used in block summaries, unlike {{anonblock}}. 2A0E:1D47:9085:D200:5AF:9096:9EC1:275E (talk) 16:45, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
Comment: Is there any reason why the average editor would need to edit this? Sumanuil. (talk to me) 05:28, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
- Presumably the IP intends to nominate this and the below for deletion based on their other edits. But that doesn't require an unprotection; they can just request that the TfD tag be added using {{edit template-protected}}. However, what makes you think
Not used in block summaries, unlike {{anonblock}}
? Do you have any actual evidence of this, or are you just guessing? * Pppery * it has begun... 05:02, 22 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Only 7 transclusions. Not used in block summaries, unlike {{school block}} 2A0E:1D47:9085:D200:5AF:9096:9EC1:275E (talk) 16:46, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: This article about this fondly remembered British children's animated series has been semi-protected for ten years, with little vandalism. Frankster04 (talk) 18:42, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
Comment:: Are you sure that that's not because of the protection? Sumanuil. (talk to me) 20:37, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
- (Non-administrator comment) Normally I'd agree, the "there's no vandalism so no protection is needed" logic is regularly a flawed request, but ten years is certainly long enough to consider for a valid WP:TRYUNPROT request. Zinnober9 (talk) 22:15, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: The protection is no longer necessary because this page is rarely edited at all. I have issues with https://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Jarnail_Singh_Bhindranwale&diff=prev&oldid=1292294117 this edit which removed a large amount of well sourced content and is POV pushing. ChanduDev (talk) 02:18, 22 June 2025 (UTC)
Comment: The page is stable precisely because it is extended-confirmed protected, often from off-wiki brigading campaigns. In fact the information was restored because a blocked user added POV from a single dated source, after deleting over 10k bytes of secondary content that contradicted their POV. Best to maintain the protection. Sapedder (talk) 03:20, 22 June 2025 (UTC)
- Well I dont think its fair to give just one person sole control of such a page, especially when the user has a history of POV pushing and making nasty attacks against those who disagreed with him. See his block log. ChanduDev (talk) 03:51, 22 June 2025 (UTC)
- The article also falls under Contentious topics as well and likely to be declined by an admin anyways Untamed1910 (talk) 03:56, 22 June 2025 (UTC)
Declined This is an CT (previously AE) protection that cannot be overruled here. Please follow the procedures at WP:Contentious topics#Appeals and amendments if you really wish to challenge this, but the comments above are worth considering seriously. * Pppery * it has begun... 04:59, 22 June 2025 (UTC)
- The article also falls under Contentious topics as well and likely to be declined by an admin anyways Untamed1910 (talk) 03:56, 22 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Unprotection or pending changes protection: This article has been semi-protected since 2017, back when the subject was a popular YouTube star. Now that it's been almost eight years since the protection (and since his death), perhaps it's time to try unprotection or downgrade it to pending changes to see how it goes? The article has seen significantly less views recently (144,097 views in the past year compared to 449,007 in 2017) and just 12 edits so far this year. The protecting administrator hasn't been active since at least 2021. I'm fine if the current protection level is still necessary, since Samsara stated there had been "very few good changes from non-autoconfirmed." BriDash9000 (talk) 07:50, 22 June 2025 (UTC)
Current requests for edits to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
