Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RFUP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or, failing that, the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary semi-protection: IP vandalism – edit warring, and addition of misinformation. 122.150.118.203 (talk) 04:05, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent unreferenced edits from IP users and also newly registered accounts. Hotwiki (talk) 08:25, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – This page keeps getting POV edits by unregistered or newbie editors, typically by adding WP:TERRORIST but also other fake information and occasional deletion of sourced content. Kautilya3 (talk) 10:58, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Child protection (WP:CHILDPROTECT). Since this is a legal policy, it overrides WP:NOPREEMPT. RaschenTechner (talk) 13:26, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    it should override WP:NOPREEMPT RaschenTechner (talk) 13:27, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
DeclinedPages are not protected preemptively. @RaschenTechner: I don't understand how Wikipedia:Child protection is meant to make protections compulsory with little disruption. Please read the policy carefully. Sdrqaz (talk) 00:30, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Continued drive-by IP edits that change sourced text. This page probably needs permanent protection instead of repeated temporary protection. – Jonesey95 (talk) 14:09, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IPs keeps removing sourced info. Nswix (talk) 14:11, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Persistent disruptive editing by anonymous editors of anticipated, upcoming music release. livelikemusic (TALK!) 14:40, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Reason: Semi-protection: Vandalism per IP range 2600:6C5A:557F:D058:CD81:C7D2:6035:182D (talk) 21:17, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Sdrqaz (talk) 00:30, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Full protection: Persistent disruptive editing 2600:6C5A:557F:D058:CD81:C7D2:6035:182D (talk) 21:20, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Sdrqaz (talk) 00:30, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. LTA. Tarlby (t) (c) 21:32, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

User(s) blocked. @Tarlby: Please see Wikipedia:Protection policy#Blocked users; if a user is misusing their talk page, they should be reported at AIV or ANI. Sdrqaz (talk) 00:30, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Unregistered user repeatedly making unnecessary and extreme changes without explanation or discussion on talk page. Tbf62 (talk) 23:00, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite full protection: as per policy with SanFranBanned editors. JayCubby 23:00, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

DeclinedPages are not protected preemptively. I am not aware of any such policy (please ping on reply). Sdrqaz (talk) 00:30, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Semi-protection - Edit warring: conflicting with templates since last edit 2600:6C5A:557F:D058:C41B:1AD1:E66B:1638 (talk) 23:39, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. At the time of request, you were edit-conflicting with yourself. Sdrqaz (talk) 00:30, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Repeatedly recreated - nonexistent user, no reason why this would ever need to be created. 2A0E:1D47:9085:D200:747C:71B6:4CA5:979 (talk) 23:45, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Increase to Extended-Confirmed: Persistent sock-puppetry by User:StayCalmOnTress. M. Billoo 00:45, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcementWP:A/I/PIA. The page is within scope of the restrictions. Per the ArbCom remedies, only extended-confirmed editors should be able to edit the article. Sean.hoyland (talk) 00:51, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Several ip users have been edit warring on this page and Ulaanzuukh culture for several days over a citation failing valification, today I asked them to stop and was promptly reverted with the message "You take it to the talk page. The verification is unambiguously failed by anyone who can read at 10th grade level (tough one for weakpedians)." [1] DervotNum4 (talk) 01:10, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Indefinite semi-protection: IP or unregistered users repeatedly adding unnecessary changes without explanation or discussion on talk page. SamuelLovesFilms (talk) 02:26, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: seeking temporary semi-protection because IP user repeated additions of undue content based on primary sources and blogs without looking for talk page consensus and uncivil edit summaries Czarking0 (talk) 02:27, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

I would like to request that… the name as Cpl John C. Brown be added to Don Knotts page under No Time For Sergeants. 45.48.216.245 (talk) 23:30, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This should be called the Israel Iran war. Because Israel started it. 49.182.199.20 (talk) 02:23, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined The order of the countries is merely alphabetical. (CC) Tbhotch 02:30, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
