If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
- Please make sure you really need technical assistance before making a request here. In particular, if the target page is a redirect back to the source page that has only one revision, you can usually move the page normally.
- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
[edit]Uncontroversial technical requests
[edit]- Ulul → Onoun (currently a redirect instead to Namonuito Atoll) (move · discuss) – This Micronesian municipality officially uses the spelling Onoun, as can be seen in the constitution of Chuuk State. The spelling Onoun is in use as well so I think it is recognisable. The page for Onoun inaccurately redirects to Namonuito Atoll, the atoll it is a part of. The same case goes for the other Namonuito municipalities of Piherarh, Unanu, Onou and Makur which I will move for consistency if this is approved. Infrish 2 (talk) 15:26, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
- DXLX-FM (currently a redirect to DXLX) → DXLX (move · discuss) – Callsign is held by only an FM station. It is not held by either AM or TV station. See FM listing and AM listing from NTC. SBKSPP (talk) 07:18, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
- DWLM → DZDG (currently a redirect instead to Filipinas Broadcasting Network) (move · discuss) – Current callsign as stated in the recent FM listing from NTC. SBKSPP (talk) 07:21, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
- Ben Hunt (rugby league) → Ben Hunt (move) – requested move; see Talk:Ben Hunt#Requested move 20 March 2025 (Talk:Ben Hunt (rugby league)#Requested move 20 March 2025 before move) Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 19:07, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
- Prakṛti → Prakriti (move · discuss) – Prakṛti with IAST in article title should be renamed to Prakriti, which is currently a redirect page as suggested on talk page Talk:Prakṛti#IAST_in_Article_Titles - similar to Samkhya and Purusha for consistency. Currently not able to move because of redirect for Prakriti. Asteramellus (talk) 01:07, 7 June 2025 (UTC)
Requests to revert undiscussed moves
[edit]- Christine O'Moore → Chris O'Moore (currently a redirect back to Christine O'Moore) (move · discuss) – Request move again from Christine O'Moore to page Chris O'Moore in accordance with detransition, name and pronoun change. The page was briefly moved to Chris O'Moore then returned to Christine O'Moore as the editing was underway. Current, verified source has now been provided in article and additional sources will be added in the near future. Pages in Norwegian, Nynorsk and Greek have been updated to reflect the appropriate changes without issue. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. christine.harstad.schuff (talk) 18:55, 1 June 2025 (CET)
- Comment: The previous move in the other direction was more than a year ago. However, that move was by the same person who is requesting it to be reverted. They have said (at Talk:Christine O'Moore) that they are the subject of the article. — BarrelProof (talk) 04:32, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
- Red Stone (game) → Red Stone (currently a redirect back to Red Stone (game)) (move · discuss) – Move was done in contravention of WP:DIFFCAPS, of which this is a clear example. And uses wrong disambiguation anyway, it should be (video game). ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 14:32, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
- Article gets single-digit daily pageviews and is unlikely to be the primary topic. This can be uncontroversially moved to Red Stone (video game). A discussion can be started if you want to argue for the undisambiguated Red Stone. 162 etc. (talk) 04:41, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
- This is a request to revert an undiscussed move from 17 May, so must be reverted first. Then anyone can initiate a move request to a longer title. Station1 (talk) 13:35, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
- The move to Red Stone was actually undiscussed itself. 162 etc. (talk) 16:22, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
- That's true. I hadn't noticed. Although it was 2016. In fact, before that, in 2008, there was an undiscussed move from Red stone. There is no specific time limit on reverting undiscussed moves, so I guess you could make a case for reverting to Red Stone (video game) or Red stone, but Red Stone has been stable for a long time until last month, so I think is probably the best choice. Then an RM can be started. Station1 (talk) 19:16, 6 June 2025 (UTC)

- Ajit (Hindi film actor) → Ajit Khan (currently a redirect back to Ajit (Hindi film actor)) (move · discuss) – disambiguation needed 103.87.143.97 (talk) 03:05, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
- The article was moved from Ajit Khan to Ajit (Hindi film actor) after discussion at Talk:Ajit (Hindi film actor)#"Ajit" or "Ajit Khan"?. I encourage you to discuss there if you want to object to the move. Annh07 (talk) 16:38, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
Contested technical requests
[edit]- William Sloane (writer) → William Sloane (move · discuss) – The only other article titled William Sloane is a disambiguation page that exclusively links to people with middle names or initials in their article titles (William Douglas Sloane, William Milligan Sloane, and William A. Sloane). Sipiso (talk) 16:51, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
- William Sloane (writer) does not get the majority of the pageviews and is unlikely to be the primary topic. 162 etc. (talk) 21:47, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
- Ludmila (given name) → Ludmila (move · discuss) – Obvious primary topic. The half dozen non-given name entries should be moved to Ludmila (disambiguation) Clarityfiend (talk) 22:01, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Clarityfiend The pageviews do not agree that it is the obvious primary topic, and it shows that there are several entries that are not even listen on the DAB page. cyberdog958Talk 08:21, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- Buttock augmentation → Gluteoplasty (currently a redirect back to Buttock augmentation) (move · discuss) – The lead immediately names the procedure "Gluteoplasty" and I think it should fit the pattern set by Rhinoplasty and Vaginoplasty. I tried to move it myself, but it failed. Yyannako (talk) 20:39, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
- Rather than just considering consistency with other articles, what is the WP:COMMONNAME? -Kj cheetham (talk) 11:25, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
- On the other hand, WP:MEDTITLE should be considered. — BarrelProof (talk) 18:11, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
- Medtitle vs Commonname would be MOS vs policy, I'd be inclined to think MEDTITLE would win here, and I would personally support Gluteoplasty, however that's without evidence being presented. Given the impasse, a discussion might be a good idea (there's also possibly the argument that the common name is Gluteoplasty, but I'm unsure) ASUKITE 16:23, 4 June 2025 (UTC)

- Rather than just considering consistency with other articles, what is the WP:COMMONNAME? -Kj cheetham (talk) 11:25, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
- @Yyannako There is sufficient discussion here that shows that this move is not entirely uncontroversial so an RM should be performed. cyberdog958Talk 03:56, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
- Kanwaljit Singh (actor) → Kanwaljeet Singh (currently a redirect back to Kanwaljit Singh (actor)) (move · discuss) – His name was spelled and credited as Kanwaljeet in all of his movies 116.206.202.59 (talk) 07:28, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
- Recent move vandalism (and the reverts) indicate a possible controversy, I would suggest a discussion (you can click "discuss" above and fill in your rationale, then click submit/publish, or ask me and I can help) ASUKITE 18:21, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
