65th season in franchise history
The 2024 season is the Las Vegas Raiders ' 55th season in the National Football League (NFL), their 65th overall, their fifth in Las Vegas and their first full season under head coach Antonio Pierce and their first with general manager Tom Telesco .[ 1] After starting the season 2–2, The Raiders would go on a ten-game losing streak. The Raiders failed to improve on their 8–9 record from last year as they had their worst start since 2018 . They also failed to end their 21-year AFC West title drought when the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Carolina Panthers in Week 12. With their loss to the Chiefs the following week, the Raiders were eliminated from playoff contention for the third straight season and were locked into last place in the AFC West for the first time since 2018.
On October 31, 2023, following a Week 8 loss to the Detroit Lions , the Raiders fired Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler .[ 2] The Raiders named linebackers coach Antonio Pierce interim head coach,[ 3] and assistant general manager Champ Kelly interim general manager.[ 4] Following the season, the team named Antonio Pierce the full-time head coach after the team finished the season with a record of 5–4 under Pierce.[ 5] On January 23, 2024, Tom Telesco was hired as the general manager of the Raiders.[ 6]

With the loss the Raiders were not only swept by the Broncos for the first time in a decade, but also due to the Chiefs win over the Panthers, the Raiders were mathematically incapable of clinching the AFC West for the 21st year in a row. The loss also ties them with the Giants for the worst record in the NFL.
