The 2024 season is the New England Patriots' 55th season in the National Football League (NFL), their 65th overall, and their 23rd playing home games at Gillette Stadium and will be the first year under a new de facto general manager, executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf, and a new head coach, Jerod Mayo.

They will attempt to improve on their AFC-worst 4–13 record from last year. However, the Patriots started 1–6 while also losing 6 straight games for the first time since 1993. The Patriots failed to end their four-year AFC East title drought after a Week 12 loss to the Miami Dolphins dropping them to 3–9, resulting in the Patriots third consecutive losing season and their fourth in five years. The Patriots were eliminated from playoff contention the following week with a loss to the Indianapolis Colts coupled with the Houston Texans beating the Jacksonville Jaguars.

This is the first season since 1999 without long time head coach Bill Belichick, as he and the Patriots mutually agreed to part ways on January 11.[1] A day later, linebacker coach Jerod Mayo was hired as the 15th head coach in franchise history; Mayo had played with the team between 2008 and 2015, winning Super Bowl XLIX with them. Also, this is the first season since 2007 without special teams star Matthew Slater on the roster after he announced his retirement on February 20.
