The 2025 Bihar Legislative Assembly election for all 243 constituencies is scheduled to take place in October or November of 2025. It will be conducted by the Election Commission of India, and will determine the composition of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, which determines the Government of Bihar.
Background
[edit]The previous assembly elections were held in October–November 2020. Following the election, the National Democratic Alliance formed the state government, with Nitish Kumar as Chief Minister. Later, in August 2022, Nitish Kumar led the JD(U) to break ties with the NDA and form a government with the RJD, led by Mahagathbandhan. The JD(U), led by Nitish Kumar, later severed its ties with the RJD in January 2024 and once more formed a government with the BJP-led NDA.
