Flipkart Supply Chain Operations Academy (SCOA) is a skill development initiative launched by Flipkart in 2021. The academy aims to provide free, industry-relevant training in supply chain operations to youth from underserved communities across India. The program combines digital learning with hands-on experience to enhance employability in the e-commerce logistics sector.

Overview

[edit]

SCOA offers a structured training program that includes 15 days of online classroom sessions followed by 45 days of on-the-job training (OJT) at Flipkart's supply chain facilities. The curriculum covers various roles such as picker, packer, sorter, quality check executive, data entry operator, and issue resolution executive. The program is designed to equip participants with practical skills required in e-commerce supply chain operations.

Objectives

[edit]

The primary objectives of SCOA are:

  • To bridge the skill gap in the e-commerce logistics sector.
  • To enhance employability among youth, especially from underserved communities.
  • To promote diversity and inclusion by targeting women, persons with disabilities, and members of the transgender community.

Partnerships

[edit]

In 2023, Flipkart signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) to expand the reach of SCOA. The collaboration aims to align the academy's curriculum with national skill development standards.

Additionally, Flipkart partnered with the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Kalyani in West Bengal to establish a Center of Excellence (CoE). This center provides specialized training and industry exposure to local youth, aligning with regional employment needs.

Impact

[edit]

As of 2024, SCOA has trained over 4,200 candidates, including 826 women. The program has been instrumental in providing skill development opportunities to individuals from various states, including Bihar, Delhi, Haryana, Jharkhand, Punjab, Rajasthan, and West Bengal. Flipkart aims to upskill 16,000 candidates through SCOA by 2025.
