Submission declined on 14 June 2025 by CSMention269 (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

Jonathan Yates is an Irish professional golfer playing on the European Hotelplanner Tour.
Early life and education
[edit]Jonathan Yates was born in Ireland and is affiliated with Naas GC.[1] His dedication to golf continued through his academic years as he pursued higher education in University College Dublin (UCD).[2]
Career
[edit]Amateur career
[edit]Jonathan's first notable win came when he won the Barton Shield All Ireland with Maynooth University.[3] This team also featured DP World Tour player Gary Hurley. Jonathan then won the prestigious Midland's Scratch Cup in 2015. Previous winners of the 72 hole tournament include Joe Carr and Padraig Harrington. En route to winning, Jonathan shot a course record matching 66 in the final round.[4] Jonathan's biggest success individually as an amateur came in the 2016 West of Ireland Championship. Following on from Jonathan's clubmate Jack Hume's success in 2014, he won the title in 2016 [5] defeating Daniel Holland in the final.[6]
Jonathan represented Leinster in the interprovincial championships on 3 occasions – 2016 [7], 2017 and 2018.[8] Jonathan made his Irish senior debut at the 2018 European Nations Cup at Sotogrande.[9] [10] He then went on to represent Ireland in the 2018 European Amateur Team Championship in July. Jonathan's final representative honours came in the 2018 Men's Home International's in Conwy, Wales.
Professional career
[edit]After a successful amateur career, Yates turned professional in 2019.[11] His early years as a professional saw him competing on the Alps Tour and as a result of the 2022 Alps tour season [12], Jonathan progressed to the Hotelplanner Tour, which serves as a stepping stone to the European Tour (now part of the DP World Tour). [13]
Professional wins
[edit]Jonathan has featured prominently within Ireland, winning multiple times nationally.[14] After a number of close calls, Jonathan's biggest win to date came on the Alps Tour in the 2022 Emilia Romagna Alps Tour Grand Final [15] where he held off Stefano Mazzoli to win by 2 shots.[16]
