Vaishak Seetharam Dattani is a hospitality professional and social activist known for his initiative, "Travel for a Cause", which is part of the ongoing project Shores to Pinnacle. The initiative aims to raise awareness and funds for various health-related causes through travel and adventure. Since its inception in 2021, the initiative has seen three successful chapters, with a fourth chapter focused on sustainability planned for 2026.
Shores to Pinnacle - 1 (2021) The first chapter of **Shores to Pinnacle** was a 1,311 km bicycle ride across Sri Lanka, which took place from November 3 to November 14, 2021. The ride aimed to raise funds for the Government Hospital at Karapitiya, Sri Lanka. Dattani's journey was not only a physical challenge but also a means to bring attention to the healthcare needs of the region.
Shores to Pinnacle - 2 (2022) The second chapter of the initiative involved a 12,511 km vintage Jawa (1965) motorcycle ride across India, which took place between February 9 and March 31, 2022. This ride raised awareness for Rising Star Outreach of India, a charitable organization that supports children from leprosy colonies in Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu. Dattani's journey was aimed at engaging associates from Marriott Hotels India to contribute to fundraising efforts for the organization.
Shores to Pinnacle - 3 (2023) In the third chapter, Dattani undertook a walk and hitchhiking journey from Singapore to Sikkim, covering a distance of 12,751 km between September 27 and November 25, 2023. The purpose of this chapter was to fund Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) surgeries for 100 children, in partnership with Aster DM Healthcare. The walk brought attention to the importance of affordable heart surgery for children with congenital heart defects.
Future Chapter - Shores to Pinnacle 4 (2026) The fourth chapter of the **Shores to Pinnacle** initiative is scheduled for 2026 and will focus on sustainability. The project will continue to use Dattani's travels to promote awareness and support for global environmental and social causes.
