Hello, I am planning on reviewing this article for GA Status, over the next couple of days. Thank you for nominating the article for GA status. I hope I will learn some new information, and that my feedback is helpful.
If nominators or editors could refrain from updating the particular section that I am updating until it is complete, I would appreciate it to remove a edit conflict. Please address concerns in the section that has been completed above (If I've raised concerns up to references, feel free to comment on things like the lede.)
I generally provide an overview of things I read through the article on a first glance. Then do a thorough sweep of the article after the feedback is addressed. After this, I will present the pass/failure. I may use strikethrough tags when concerns are met. Even if something is obvious why my concern is met, please leave a message as courtesy.
Best of luck! you can also use the {{done}} tag to state when something is addressed. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs)
Please let me know after the review is done, if you were happy with the review! Obviously this is regarding the article's quality, however, I want to be happy and civil to all, so let me know if I have done a good job, regardless of the article's outcome.

[edit]- third para could probably do with being merged with the first one. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:09, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
- That should probably cover a bit more about the events from 1952-57. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:09, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
- non-ranking snooker - I don't really like the links together like this, can't we just say "invitational snooker competition"? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:09, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
- Can move ref from infobox to prize fund. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:09, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
- Reworked lead to address the points above. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 13:45, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
- Nunawading Basketball Centre is this notable? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:09, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
- Looking at the Google News and Google books results, I think not. Delinked. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 13:45, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
General
[edit]- BACC - expand on first usage. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:17, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
- Expanded. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 15:51, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
- as an alternative to the World Snooker Championship[3] now recognised as world championships - as an alternative to the World Professional Championship. Although at first not deemed a world championship, it was later recognised as having the same lineage of the event." Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:17, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
- Reworded, but avoided "lineage" as I don't think that's quite appropriate. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 15:51, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
- Should probably mention that the World Snooker Championship was reinstated. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:17, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
- Excellent point. Amended. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 15:51, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
- The tournament was staged from 28 November to 11 December 1976, at the Nunawading Basketball Centre in Burwood East, Melbourne, Australia, with 16 invited players participating - in here it's worth mentioning that this event didn't similarly have the lineage of the world snooker championship. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:17, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
- Amended. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 15:51, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
- editor of Snooker Scene, - needs "magazine" in there somewhere. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:17, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
- And the later World Matchplay events as distinct despite - distinct what? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:17, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
- Added a few words, which hopefully clarifies it. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 15:51, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
- As we haven't mentioned it earlier, could we put the format into the summary (IE, when the matches were played, number of frames etc,) Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:17, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
- Took a while to get round dates. Overseas reports about "yesterday" and a syndicated article appearing on different days in different sources saying that a round was over "the next three" both confused me. There isn't enough in sources for individual match dates for all. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 15:51, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
- As there isn't that much info in the semi and quarter-finals, maybe we could merge the individual paragraphs for those sections Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:17, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
- Done. (Even Snooker Scene only had a single page reporting on all the tournament results.) BennyOnTheLoose (talk)
- We could take out the subsections too, it would look a little less bare. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:17, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
- pot the black - needs some cuegloss. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:17, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
