Apt. vs Apt
[edit]Isn't the period after "Apt" just stylisation and therefore should be removed from the title? 106.69.3.120 (talk) 05:21, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- Apt. is the official title of the song though? 2600:1700:10FF:C870:9521:AF05:F73E:B025 (talk) 02:32, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- There's no period in the title for Humble by Kendrick Lamar:
- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humble_(song) 106.69.15.173 (talk) 10:14, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- No. Apt. is an abbreviation for Apartment. What they are talking about in the song. If it were 'Apt' it would look and also sound ridiculous. This0k (talk) 23:15, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
TikTok Billboard Top 50
[edit]Apt. made its debut at #22 on the U.S. TikTok Billboard Top 50 chart on November 2, 2024.TikTok Billboard Top 50 Should we consider including this chart in the chart section? Additionally, If it’s eligible I am uncertain about the appropriate template to utilize for this particular chart. If there is an experienced editor available who can provide assistance in this matter, it would be greatly appreciated. Newpicarchive (talk) 20:24, 3 November 2024 (UTC)
- See WP:SINGLEVENDOR, Tiktok Billboard Top 50 can be included in the article but not in the charts or discography section as it is from a single vendor which is generally not allowed on Wikipedia. This0k (talk) 23:16, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
Billboard Peak position
[edit]As of 11/05/2024 (American date format), Apt.'s peak position in US Billboard Hot 100 is 8. However, in the charts section of the article, it is mistakenly or intentionally typed as 1. I also couldn't fix it when I replaced the 1 with 8, the alignment is collapsed. Polar Hyena (talk) 15:45, 5 November 2024 (UTC)

Apt. (song) → Apt (song) – Long established precedent of removing unnecessary periods that are included as stylistic elements at the end of song titles, even if the period is part of the actual credited song title. See the following examples:
- I Knew You Were Trouble
- Humble (song) (and all the songs from Damn)
- Done (The Band Perry song)
- Love (Kid Cudi song)
- Break on Me
- No More Parties in LA
- I Just Need U
- Joy (For King & Country song)
Similar precedent for for album titles:
- Withering to Death
- Janet (album)
- Damn (Kendrick Lamar album)
- Shakira (album)
- Begin (David Archuleta album)
- Idina (album)
RachelTensions (talk) 01:56, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose. The title of the song is not "Apt", but Wikt:아파트: "apartment".[1] The dot at the end of the abbreviation is correct. 162 etc. (talk)
- Good point, withdrawn. RachelTensions (talk) 03:15, 18 November 2024 (UTC)

Charts
[edit]Hi, everyone.
I am just questioning about the charts put in this article. I do not understand what criteria is being applied here, but the entire Latin American charts are from Monitor Latino, and TopHit charts are only put as airplay. Is this just to favor the song's number ones? If that is it, I do not think that is a good idea for neutrality. At least in Ukraine, the song peaked at number two at the country's all-format chart the last time I checked, and the song appeared at the Argentina Hot 100 and another own Latin charts such as ASAP EGC for El Salvador, although it did not topped that charts. I said this because I understand that the Billboard one for Argentina and other more like FONOTICA for Costa Rica have more reputation and credibility than Monitor Latino. I know, for instance the Salvadorian chart is published in Facebook, but we are talking about charts being made by Billboard and IFPI, respectively, the best organizations for record charts. In addition, remember that countries such as Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru are also covered by Billboard all-format charts. I want to clarify that, if the song have not appeared on one of that charts, for Latin ones it is totally acceptable to maintain Monitor, and for TopHit ones, to maintain the airplay-format. I do not know, maybe I am wrong, just tell me. Cheers. Santi (talk) 04:11, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Pollosito See this WP:CHARTS.
- Also, Monitor Latino is a legitimate source of charts.
- I also believe there’s a policy stating that if a song has already appeared on an official chart in a country, such as the US Billboard Hot 100, it should not be counted again on other sub-charts like US Adult Contemporary or airplay charts. Lililolol (talk) 20:53, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
- Other sub-charts, like US Adult Contemporary, should be removed, though it could be a controversial move, so we should reach a consensus first Lililolol (talk) 20:57, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Lililolol: I never said that Monitor is not legitimate, I said that Monitor, compared with other charts that cover more ways of consuming and generally have more reputation/acceptance among people, is "less legitimate". I have this concern because Monitor presents airplay results, format that is not the biggest way of consuming in the continent (the smallest in some of them). Let's put an example: in Colombia (my country), nowadays, I heard less people putting Tropicana, Radio Uno, Caracol and Blu; La Kalle adapted its methodology to TV. Many bars and restaurants put songs through YouTube, some of them through TV channels that used to be radio stations, but the last one is also dying. People in cars are putting Spotify. I did not hear "Apt." in any part of my city (malls, stores, cars, for instance), just at someone's house but that person is a fan of Anglo and mainstream music like me, so does not apply. Number-ones and some top 5 songs in my country last a little to come to my ears outside, but at least I managed to listen to them once. That is not this song's case, so saying that it topped at my country is so strange.
- About the last thing you said, we have to call someone to remind us that specific criteria (I have not read it before). However, it just justifies the Argentina Hot 100 absence. And the rest? Santi (talk) 23:57, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
- And other thing: I am not talking about putting these charts plus the Monitor ones; I mean replace the Monitor ones with the others said above. It also applies for TopHit. Just in case, I guess it was not clear. Santi (talk) 00:01, 5 March 2025 (UTC)
- Other sub-charts, like US Adult Contemporary, should be removed, though it could be a controversial move, so we should reach a consensus first Lililolol (talk) 20:57, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Lililolol: I researched a bit more quickly, and I think the closest thing to what you said is WP:BILLBOARDCHARTS. In fact, I think that the text in that tables of the criteria mentioned here have to replace "may" to "should" or a stronger advice or obligation because of redundancy. Finally, taking advantage of this, would you mind helping me with this discussion? The user just did not want to answer me and put the problematic section instead. Santi (talk) 00:15, 5 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Lililolol: So, do you agree that I should start replacing that charts? I would do it based in what I did with this article for the Latin America ones. Santi (talk) 22:24, 12 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Pollosito yeah, that looks good to me Lililolol (talk) 18:23, 16 March 2025 (UTC)

- It's very simple, where there is a nationally recognised provider e.g. Billboard is known for providing charts in the US, UK Official Charts in the Uk. Use the provider MOST KNOWN for the country in question. We do not need to add billboard songs charts for countries like Portugal that already have their own recognised national chart provider. US charts are explained in depth at WP:USCHARTS. Read WP:RECORDCHARTS. If Billboard Argentine Hot 100 is present, then Monitor Latino or Billboard Argentine Songs charts should not be used. If you have specific questions, ping me and I'll explain. >> Lil-unique1 (talk) — 00:49, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
