Berthe Morisot with a Bouquet of Violets
Berthe Morisot with a Bouquet of Violets is an 1872 oil painting by Édouard Manet. It depicts fellow painter Berthe Morisot dressed in black mourning dress, with a barely visible bouquet of violets. The painting is in the collection of the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.Painting: Édouard Manet

Victorine Meurent

[edit]

The model in the first of the six paintings in a horizontal row is Victorine Meurent, not Berthe Morisot. It doesn't state otherwise, but, since the other five paintings are of Morisot, it is misleading and was probably intended to be a painting of Morisot. (Furthermore, the painting of Meurent is elsewhere called A Young Lady in 1866.) I don't know how to put up visuals, but I suggest that someone replace the Meurent painting with Manet's painting of Berthe Morisot at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Or replace it with another Manet of Morisot if you prefer. Berthe Morisot in Mourning would also be a good choice. Maurice Magnus (talk) 19:21, 13 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
