Kincardine, Ontario - second monument

[edit]

I just updated the article to reference the decision by the Kincardine, Ontario, municipal council to destroy a monument at the library rather than reinstalling it, but to leave a second monument at the cemetery in place because it doesn't reference the Civil War. However, considering that the cemetery monument apparently refers only to a minor Confederate figure, and not to the war nor (I presume) to the Confederacy itself, can it really be considered a Confederate monument at all? Perhaps it should be removed from the article altogether. Thoughts? Carguychris (talk) 18:40, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've decided the connection is tenuous and removed the reference to the second monument. Carguychris (talk) 18:10, 28 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Geographic distribution of monuments.

[edit]

Dear fellow Wikiers, Please be patient with me since this is my first time trying to communicate this way. A couple years ago I unintentionally got into an editing war. The original article stated that all the monuments were in former C.S.A. states. I changed it and mentioned Gettysburg among other sites for reference. Someone changed it back so I reworded it and tried a couple more times. I did this only after verifying that there are many monuments outside of the former Confederate states. Can we discuss this?
