[edit]What is the best way to determine the contents of a compressed gas cylinder is —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.40.229.78 (talk • contribs) 01:54, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
A quick google [1][2] shows that the best way is to look at the label. If it's not clearly labelled, it should be marked Contents Unknown and returned to the manufacturer. If that's not what you meant, you might want to ask at the Wikipedia Ref Desk - science section as well. Gotyear 20:31, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- In some jurisdictions a colour coding is also indicative of contents, but in most cases a label will be more specific. • • • Peter (Southwood) (talk): 15:29, 6 February 2017 (UTC)
Batteries
[edit]Batteries also could have the shape of cylinders, so they could be easy to replace by charged ones. --Altermike 08:52, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Why on earth would batteries be mentioned at all in an article regarding gas cylinders? ZL3XD (talk) 01:20, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
Common Cylinder Sizes Weights
[edit]The Common Cylinder Sizes says it includes 4.5lb for valve and cap but at least one (unannotated) entry says it weighs 4 lbs which doesn't add up (sorry for the pun). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.200.49.83 (talk • contribs) 22:40, 16 January 2015 The reason for this is, that the valve weighing 4lb and the metal cap, weighing 0.5lb add up to the 4.5lb. T sized cylinders not listed
[edit]Probably the most used cylinder size is missing from the list? How is that possible? Dr. Morbius (talk) 05:04, 4 February 2015 (UTC)
History (dubious-discuss)
[edit]I added [dubious – discuss] tag under "History" section because in English language word "Gas cylinder" means pressurized cylinder that stores gas, not collection tubes or tubes that store non-pressurized gas. Tube/pipe isn't a gas cylinder just because it has air inside it. My empty thermos isn't a gas cylinder just because it has air inside it. 84.248.139.118 (talk) 18:18, 6 February 2018 (UTC)
