[edit]The Old name of Popa was named by K'Cho, Mindat Chin people!
The old name of Popa is Pupa. Pupa means Grandparents comes from K'Cho dialect of Mindat Chin people. Till now, K'Cho children are taught by both their parents and grandparents that Mt.Popa is called Pupa Thum. Pupa is Grandparents and Thum means Mountain because K'Cho people stayed and worked for their living at Popa ( formerly : Pupa )for many years ago before they moved to Chinland.

- Interesting. Pupa Thum sounds so much like Popa Taung (mountain) in Burmese. For the first 30 years of my life I'd thought Aloo (Hindi for potato) was Burmese (meaning smears mouth). Wagaung (talk) 09:17, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
- It's interesting, but it's also very dangerous to go finding derivations based on this-sounds-like-that - the word for "dog" in one of the Australian Aboriginal languages is "dog," but no-one would suggest this is other than coincidence.PiCo (talk) 01:13, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
Extinct?
[edit]This volcano last erupted <10000 years ago. How can it be extinct? I'll change it. --Guanlong wucaii 13:37, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
