@Samcaty: Hello, creating an article about yourself (WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY) is strongly discouraged, but if you still decide to, you should first create a draft and familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's core principles, especially WP:GNG and WP:N.

I see you've already started a draft, you can submit it for review when you think its ready. One immediate thing you should do is turn your bare references into proper citations using templates like {{cite web}}.

Hi, sorry for the late reply, and thanks for your contributions. It's mostly good, a few issues that were cleaned up by other editors (but this is the iterative nature of Wikipedia). It's better to fill out a reference with the title, date, author, etc. instead of just having a bare URL. Dashes are preferred to hyphens for ranges (see MOS:DASH). References should come after the punctuation (WP:REFPUNC). Not sure about the reliability of the source. A reputable newspaper is preferred, but on first glance, the source you gave seems OK. — PerfectSoundWhatever (t; c) 06:56, 25 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@AWestbrook85: Hi, best place to start is to create a draft and read WP:Your first article. You can submit the draft via the articles for creation process. Familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's core policies: WP:5P is a good place to start. Most importantly, you should understand WP:N, WP:RS, and WP:NPOV. I've had a edit that got destroyed when I tried to submit, not it was blocked, but when was going through the submit process the edits I had made disappeared and was replaced with the page as it was before I could finish. I spent a bunch of time on the edit, is there any chance Wikipedia has some sort of save of that work? @Emasterbuild: Hi, I'm not sure what happened in this case. If someone made an edit in the time it took you to submit, it's called an edit conflict, but your progress is still saved. You just have to merge it.

Unfortunately, Wikipedia does not save in-progress edits. I'd recommend submitting edits more often (you could work in a sandbox, too) or doing something else to save edits. Personally, I will either stash in-progress edits on my desktop notepad or CTRL C every once in a while so the text is saved somewhere. — PerfectSoundWhatever (t; c) 06:46, 25 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello and welcome to the April 2025 newsletter, a quarterly digest of Guild activities since December. Don't forget you can unsubscribe at any time; see below. We extend a warm welcome to all of our new members. We wish you all happy copy-editing.

Election results: In our December 2025 coordinator election, Wracking stepped down as coordinator; we thank them for their service. Incumbents Dhtwiki, Miniapolis, and Mox Eden were reelected coordinators, and IQR and WikiEditor5678910 were newly elected coordinator, to serve through 30 June. Nominations for our mid-year Election of Coordinators will open on 1 June (UTC).

Drive: 55 editors signed up for our January Backlog Elimination Drive 33 claimed at least one copy-edit and copy-edited 611,404 words in 237 articles. Barnstars awarded are here.

Blitz: 14 editors signed up for our February Copy Editing Blitz. 10 claimed at least one copy-edit and copy-edited 46,749 words in 18 articles. Barnstars awarded are here.

Drive: 47 editors signed up for our March Backlog Elimination Drive. 28 claimed at least one copy-edit and copy-edited 479,172 words in 207 articles. Barnstars awarded are here.

@Sleepymedqueen: Hi, thanks for the question. Wikipedia does not consider itself to be a reliable source. SeeWikipedia:Academic use. In my personal opinion, Wikipedia is usually accurate, but has a lot of mis/disinformation. One can develop an eye for what to look for. But generally, Wikipedia is not very credible, and readers should fact-check statements before using them (especially academically). @Carlos Ferreira (Oficial): Hello, sorry, I do not speak Portuguese. You might find more useful results at the Portugese Wikipedia or at the WP:Embassy.

From translating your message, I can give a reply, which you can hopefully translate back. Anyone can edit Wikipedia and having an account gives you a couple advantages over editing without one. @Shadow jinn: Hi, not sure what you mean by "known". If you're talking about being able to create a page for them, you have to show they are notable. Essentially, reputable sources should have written about the person in-depth. but there's a lot more to it. @SwitchFlip08: Hi, thanks for asking. So you can check out Help:Linking but I'll summarize. A normal link [[test]] links to the page "test" and displays test. A barrelled link [[test|123]] links to "test" but displays as "123": like 123. The exponent things are citations and usually link to references/notes. The distinction is that these link within a page, usually to a bottom references section, not to other pages.
