2024 Washington summit
[edit]Thank you for contributing to this article, though i wanted to point out something regarding Background - Pre-summit developments - Weapon use policy changes.
Belgium and Italy officially opposed Ukraine striking targets within Russia using Western weapons, although the prime minister of Belgium has supported the use lift of the ban on the use of western-supplied weapons on Russian territory by Ukraine.
Also, I figured since you removed mentions of Finland, Canada, the UK, Poland from the original sentence "These endorsements came from the Foreign Ministers of Canada, the UK, Poland, Lithuania, and Norway; and the Defence Ministers of the Netherlands, Sweden, and Finland" in your edit, you might have thought it was previously stated in the two previous sentences:
"On 3 May, during a visit to Kyiv, UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron said that it is up to Ukraine how to use British weapons and that Ukraine has the right to strike with them inside Russia. This was a major policy change on the part of the United Kingdom, a nuclear state and NATO member. Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov and the spokeswoman for Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova condemned the decision. On 29 May, representatives of Finland, Canada, and Poland issued separate statements saying that Ukraine can strike valid military targets inside Russia using their weapons."
Though I wanna highlight, that the there is a difference between mentioning those countries again, as the sentence is about the endorsement of the lift of the use of western-supplied weapons, and not as mentioned in the 2 previous sentences about the use of those countries' own supplied weapons.
Thus, I suggest we include the mention of the endorsements that came from the prime minister of Belgium; the foreign ministers of Canada, the UK, Poland, Lithuania, and Norway; and the defence ministers of the Netherlands, Sweden, and Finland back again. AlasdarVan (talk) 07:48, 15 June 2024 (UTC)

Greenman (talk) 10:31, 27 February 2025 (UTC)Edit summaries including: 'I hate all of you with all my heart'
[edit]Mr. Lechkar, could you care to explain this edit summary as quoted above? May I remind you of WP:CIVIL: editors should always treat each other with consideration and respect ... politely, calmly and reasonably
. Please also read through the below carefully. starship.paint (talk / cont) 14:27, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
- There's also, at the same article and within the last 24 hours, Fuck off, I'm FUCKING DONE!!!!, F off, You've gotta be fucking shitting me, Fuck that, What in the eternal fuck, Shit, That's what I was fucking saying, Fuck. starship.paint (talk / cont) 14:45, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hello,
- At that time I was having an unintended outburst of frustration; I kind of expected a diplomatic incident like the one that was covered recently would happen but legitimately didn't expect it to become a sensational topic to the point of warranting reactions from nearly every political figure and etc. imaginable; the edit summaries therefore mostly partially reflected my intense stress at that point and my fears about the editing rate potentially leading to frequent conflicts, certain edits being unintentionally deleted or the quality of the article significantly diminishing altogether (on that last note, the swiftly-created German translation had numerous citation issues, and there was also a French version which only consisted of two or three sentences and was later deleted for failing to meet the eligibility criteria).
- In addition, as I am also neurodivergent and prone to spontaneous mental/psychological problems, one of the sensations I was also feeling at that time was as if wanting to "be the first" to add certain figures' reactions to the article, and such, after I realized how much of an impact it was going to have. I would also like to note that I failed to initially consider the guidelines for WP:AC/CT and WP:CIVIL.
- With this in mind, please accept my sincere apologies for this behaviour. After considering what you have noted me, I've been more careful to apply self-caution going forward, especially now that the activity on the article since seems to have subsided.
- I will take a break from editing now, but thank you in any case for the reminder on this case. Mr. Lechkar (talk) 21:02, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
- Mr Lechkar, thank you for your reflection. I am heartened by your commitment to follow the guidelines in the future. However I am worried about your approach - you have to manage stress more carefully regarding Wikipedia. If editing Wikipedia is causing you stress, it is often beneficial to simply walk away from editing until you are feeling better. There is no real deadline for Wikipedia and no need to be the first to add any particular reaction. You added a notice to the article that it was going through a major edit (and thus no one else should edit it), but you did not remove the notice despite stopping editing for at least an hour. The notice was on the article for six, maybe seven hours. I don’t think it was reasonable to try to keep editors out of a popular article for six hours. Maybe one hour at the most for a popular article. starship.paint (talk / cont) 04:58, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
- I'm already aware of the usage conditions for the notice (i.e. for when a single user is expansively editing an article), but at that point, I simply had no idea what to do in such a situation. I added the notice out of urgency since I didn't believe I experienced this much attention going towards a recent event article before (I think the one on the fall of the Assad regime was also internationally-notable, though I only made minimal additions there and haven't really checked the article's initial activity) because my feeling was that there were going to be a lot of incidents in which edit conflicts occurred or certain edits were lost due to other users (as I mentioned in my previous reply). After the intended goal of adding the notice failed (i.e. some edits were still lost anyway), I simply chose to leave it on full display indefinitely until it was deemed removable by someone else.
- Again, kind thanks and apologies on the matter. Mr. Lechkar (talk) 15:17, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Mr. Lechkar: - considering your response, what I can advise you is that, if a similar situation were to recur in the future, if you faced a situation of needing to add an edit notice on a hotly edited page, at least start a talk page discussion when you add the notice, and certainly write on the talk page on your decision to
leave it on full display indefinitely until it was deemed removable by someone else.

Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to post-1992 politics of the United States and closely related people, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;

[edit]Hi, you have removed my edit about Jonas Gahr støre two times now. When you first removed it it cited NRK, an indipendet, reliable source. The second time you removed it for not having a relieble sorce (i had made a mistake when copying). I was going to readd it with the correct sitation but i thought i shoud hear with you first. Herman Mortensen (talk) 19:02, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, I think at one point the first addition also used the X post (although it wasn't cited correctly), though I can't remember for sure. so far the only mention from NRK seems to be from this livefeed, though after considering your thoughts I managed to find a citation from Dagsavisen which cited Støre's statement more clearly. Thank you for pointing out my mistake. Mr. Lechkar (talk) 19:09, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
- No problem, Dagsavisen is a better sorce her. Herman Mortensen (talk) 19:11, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
