San Francisco fentanyl crisis and California Opioid Crisis
[edit]No one asked you to merge San Francisco fentanyl crisis and California Opioid Crisis. How did this idea cross your mind? I've looked at your edit history. Really sus. You only edit South Asian-related articles and now you randomly merge two obscure articles about drug deaths in California. Are you being paid? Did someone in the SF government pay you for them to use your account? Alexysun (talk) 09:04, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
- Let me answer your questions:
- 1. "How did this idea cross your mind?" - It didn't. It was a backlogged merge proposal since April 2024 [1]; I regularly help close backlogged mergers. Someone didn't do their homework well enough.
- 2. "Are you being paid?" - Unfortunately, no. But that would be cool wouldn't it?
- 3. "Did someone in the SF government pay you for them to use your account?" - See question 2.
- Next time, do your due diligence a bit better before coming at an editor. Thanks! Qalb alasid (talk) 22:41, 21 December 2024 (UTC)
You're not moving...
[edit]...you're copying and pasting. Please don't do that. Drmies (talk) 00:55, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
- Drmies...the instructions found here, quite literally, says to copy-paste [2]. How do you propose the move should be done then? Qalb alasid (talk) 00:56, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
- That's merging. Drmies (talk) 00:59, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
- Yes there's a discussion on it, there is opposition to merge. I'm closing the discussion. Thanks.Qalb alasid (talk) 01:02, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
- OK where is the discussion, and the consensus, please? Drmies (talk) 01:04, 2 May 2025 (UTC)

- Well I misspoke, the result is to merge. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Amman_Citadel
- OK--you can revert me, but what you have to do is point at the diff of the merge closure in your edit summaries, and explain there was a discussion, so we can trace it back if we need to. Drmies (talk) 01:07, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
- For that matter, though, my understanding is that we don't actually copy over the contents of one talk page to another ([3], [4]); we merely tag them and move relevant templates, from what I see at WP:MERGETEXT. Am I wrong, @Drmies?
- @Qalb alasid: thanks for the work so far! Let me know if you want any help with the remaining merge process; I had forgotten about the merge proposal but I have time to help now, as needed.
- Thanks all, R Prazeres (talk) 02:01, 3 May 2025 (UTC)
- @R Prazeres - you are correct, we can remove the talk page copy-paste. Thank you for catching that. Qalb alasid (talk) 02:07, 3 May 2025 (UTC)

Would like subtle improvement in language section of demographics of UAE
[edit]Language in UAE really depends on the Emirate within UAE. Dubai and touristy areas in Abu Dhabi like yas island=mainly English because of tourists. Everywhere else in UAE=Arabic. You can't just edit an article and say that most people are English speakers in UAE when you need to understand the distribution of the language, people will believe that even in places like Ras Al Khaimah there's little Arabic because of your edit. Not all of UAE is Dubai and Abu Dhabi tourist zones. People in Emirates like Ras Al Khaimah and cities like Al ain where Emiratis are more than 50%, speak more Arabic than English. You can't say most people everywhere in UAE speak English it would be nice if you edited it to say that Emirates like Dubai speak a lot of English because of tourists and global city etc yet lesser known emirates like RAK/fujairah etc speak arabic. Not here to scream and harass at you but I'm just trying to let you know. Jak جزاك الله خيراً Ajkawolta (talk) 21:25, 14 May 2025 (UTC)

- it literally says on the UAE government website.
- I just don't know how to add it, I'm asking for help to add sources since I'm a beginner Ajkawolta (talk) 14:24, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
- Oops wrong user don't think abt that reply.
- Nevermind Ur right, sorry for wasting Ur time,
- I live here and this is the thing I noticed and in my opinion those sources are misinformation, but tbf you kinda don't have a choice but to use a source.

- and I also use Arabic 99% of the time here, and the 1% here is for helping tourists who asked me where places are in Dubai. But like I said, your answer is justified and fair and right. Just wish there was an actual credible source that alligns with the real UAE experience 😅
- But tysm for taking your time to respond to a stranger
