Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed maintenance templates from Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport. When removing a maintenance template, please either ensure that the problem that the template refers to has been resolved, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as this change has been reverted. Take a look at getting started to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. The individual connections need to be sourced. And need dates The Banner talk 01:59, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Oh come now, @The Banner. Let's remember to assume good faith. This notice seems like a bit of an overreaction. If you insist on these being cited on an individual route level, that's fine, however, the reference I added does appear to meet the criteria for a reliable, secondary source for all the services from the airport. May I advice that you give WP:AIRPORT-CONTENT a read? And assuming good faith: please see: Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard#flightconnections.com. The Banner talk 02:20, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
And no, seeing the load of source request you have removed, not an overreaction. The Banner talk 02:22, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Chinese call signs on airline pages

[edit]

Hi Ricky,

I noticed that you deleted all the Chinese callsigns on all the Chinese airlines pages as the reason given is “English is the language used on radio transmissions so the translation is unnecessary. Also this is the English Wikipedia.”

The Chinese language is used on ATC radio transmissions as it is one of the official transmission languages used in the air, referring to Air Traffic Control. As well as French, Spanish, Italian… if you blast through the European sky.

Secondly, all the CAAC registered Chinese airlines do have an official Chinese callsign and is widely used in the Chinese airspace, e.g. 凤凰 (phoenix) for Air China Cargo, which I personally find those very interesting cause they bear the cultural and branding elements of the airlines which really differs from the English callsign. It is a good move to add them to the page as they are official and not should be considered as “not useful”.

Please feel free to share your thoughts. Cheers! Yuezhi Huang (talk) 04:01, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Air traffic control#Language offers a good explanation. Local languages can be used, but all must use English as a lingua Franca. If the translation of the call sign is different in the local language, I can see including that, however on the English Wikipedia, we would need to offer the translation, we can not expect users to read Chinese. The point you’re making about the Phoenix call sign was… pardon the pun… lost in (non-)translation. I’ll also point out that this would be an exception, I can think of no other country where we include the non-English translation of the call sign. 2025 Potomac River mid-air collision

[edit]

Did you intend to revert the section title change? If not, then could you please restore it? "Accident" is the proper section heading per the style guide, and multiple reliable sources refer to it as such. - ZLEA T\C 20:38, 30 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@ZLEA My bad! RickyCourtney (talk) 21:00, 30 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
