Non-free rationale for File:Adelaide Steamship Company House Flag.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Adelaide Steamship Company House Flag.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. - Hi Spy007au. I realize you uploaded this file quite a long time ago, so I'm only notifying you as a courtesy. The licensing of this file was recently tweaked by Flickerd and the change affects how it can be used on Wikipedia. I came accross it while checking on files flagged as WP:NFCC#9 violations since the file was being used on one of your userpages . The file is licensed as PD -Australia, but it is not considered to be PD in the United States (where Wikipedia's servers are). In such cases, the file is treated as non-free content, which means that each use needs to satisfy all ten non-free content criterion. One of these is WP:NFCC#10c which requires that a separate specific non-free use rationale for each use. Since Johnston is deceased, a non-free image can possibly be used for identification purposes per item 10 of WP:NFCI as long as there is no reasonable expection that an equivalent image can be either created or found to serve the same encyclopedic purpose of identification. (WP:NFCC#1) So, if you feel that this is the case, please provide the required rationale; I suggest Template:Non-free use rationale biog as one way to do this. The file is also going to need a non-free copyright license as well and Template:Non-free biog-pic is usually used for these types of images. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:11, 14 September 2017 (UTC)
- I've updated the summary now with a non-free rationale. Flickerd (talk) 06:35, 14 September 2017 (UTC)

Caption to photo of A7V Gretchen
[edit]https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:A7V_Tank_Gretchen.jpg
Hello. Just read the above, and there are a few things I thought you might like to amend. It isn't a "Balkan style" cross. It's nothing to do with the Balkans. The cross is a Balkenkreuz. Der Balken is German for a beam or bar or square piece of wood - the English word "baulk". And the other type isn't a Maltese Cross; it's a Footed Cross. I can't remember off the top of my head the sequence of crosses on the A7V, but nobody was using either of them on tanks in 1914, because there were no tanks. The Balkenkreuz was used on aircraft from March 1918, but the Footed Cross was also used on the A7V. I would suggest the whole paragraph needs a major overhaul. Copying licensed material requires proper attribution
[edit]Hi. I see in a recent addition to Mintaro, South Australia you included material from a webpage that is available under an Attribution 3.0 Australia Australia license. That's okay, but you have to give attribution so that our readers are made aware that you copied the prose rather than wrote it yourself. I've added the attribution for this particular instance. Please make sure that you follow this legal requirement when copying from compatibly-licensed material in the future. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 14:53, 16 January 2018 (UTC)

Please attribute or claim media you uploaded or restored: File:Mintaro Coursing Club.jpg
[edit]You uploaded or restored , File:Mintaro Coursing Club.jpg, but for various reasons did not add an {{information}} block, or indicate your (user) name on the file description page. Media uploaded to Wikipedia needs information on the SPECIFIC authorship and source of files, to ensure that it complies with copyright laws in various jurisdictions.
If it's entirely your own work, please include {{own}} in the relevant source field, amend the {{information}} added by a third party, ensuring that your user name (or name you want used for attribution) is clear in the author field, and change the license to an appropriate "self" variant (if such a license is not already used). You should also add an |author= parameter to the license tag, to assist reviews and image patrollers. You can also add |claimed=yes
and an |author=
to the {{media by uploader}} or {{presumed_self}} tag if it is present to indicate that you've acknowledged the image, and license shown (and updated the {{information}} where appropriate).
If it's not entirely your own work, then please update the source and authorship fields, so that they accurately reflect the source and authors of the original work(s), as well as the derivative you created. You should also not use a "self" license unless the work is entirely you own. Media that is incorrectly claimed as self or {{own}}, will eventually be listed at Files for Discussion or deleted, unless it's full status is entirely clear to other contributors, reviewers and image patrollers.
Whilst this notification, relates to a single media upload, it would also be appreciated if you could ensure that appropriate attribution exists for other media you uploaded, You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.
It's okay to remove or strike this message once the issue has been resolved :).

I've had a look at the article on this quite obscure NI politician, that you created in 2008. It seems he may have been a very distant relative of mine. Anyway, I think there was an error in their parents' names - they were James Fryar (c.1821-1878) and Jane née Hamilton (c.1823-1897). The source is a transcription of their gravestone in Banbridge, Ireland. I've corrected the article but am happy to discuss this if you think I'm wrong. unused, low-res, no obvious use
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
