Hello, TheLionHasSeen! I know that we have both been involved in the editing of pages related to Pentecostalism, specifically Oneness Pentecostalism, and so I wanted to get your thoughts on an idea I have regarding the Affirming Apostolic Pentecostal churches page.

My concerns are multifold. First, it seems to me (though I may be wrong) that there is really no analogous page on Wikipedia for a set of churches/organizations within a specific denomination to have their own page in this way on the topic of sexuality, rather than a page detailing all of the views (whether in opposition to, affirming of, or neutral on the topic of sexuality) within the denomination on this topic. For example, within Template:Christianity and LGBTQ topics, there is a section on Denominational positions that has pages like Presbyterianism and homosexuality, Homosexuality and Lutheranism, Homosexuality and Baptist churches, etc., but I have not seen any page about, for example, Affirming Baptist Churches. Secondly, the page strangely includes Trinitarian Pentecostals, which are definitionally not Oneness Pentecostals. Finally, the name for the page seems both arbitrary and inaccurate. The Oneness Pentecostal page was renamed in favor of Oneness Pentecostalism over Apostolic Pentecostalism several years ago to align with the scholarly naming and to maintain WP:NPOV; why should this not apply to this page as well, as it is aligned with the same movement but differing in only one point of theology? I don't see any consistent naming convention from the sources either, so the page naming seems arbitrary.

It seems to me that the most logical thing to do would be to create a page such as Pentecostalism and Homosexuality and merge the contents into the new page to better represent all the positions taken by Pentecostal organizations (both Oneness and Trinitarian), not limited to just those affirming. What do you think of this? For a movement as large as Pentecostalism, it probably is overdue for a page such as this to exist, and it would solve the issues I've raised with the Affirming Apostolic Pentecostal churches page. Let me know your thoughts! JParksT2023 (talk) 18:50, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have mirrored this message at Talk:Affirming Apostolic Pentecostal churches#Thoughts on the page in its current state, please reply from there. Thank you for your response and your help! JParksT2023 (talk) 21:52, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A small recommendation

[edit]

You seem to be a more experienced editor than I am, so maybe I am wrong, but I have a small recommendation to make, regarding your recent edits on Alabama. I do feel that more descriptive edit summaries could be used, elaborating your reason for your deletion of some tables in an article not seemingly too long to navigate. We should remember that Wikipedia editing is cooperative, and other editors should not spend too much time figuring out your rationale. As you may be able to notice, I always provide a reasoning for my edits, and I always feel that I am saving every editor watching the page some time. Additionally, I think doing so would be also teaching the newcomer reviewing our edits some general procedure and guidelines of condensing and improving an article. Nathan B2

[edit]

Just saw you helped out here.[1] I have reversed hundreds of this kind of edit by Nathan B2 who keeps shoving his bizarre ecclesiology across Wikipedia. What can be done? desmay (talk) 23:00, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I think we should report this to the administrator's noticeboard. He is placing his own personal opinion against these artticles, @Desmay. - TheLionHasSeen (talk) 17:43, 25 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nathan B2, let this be a warning to you. If you continue with your habit of making these controversial changes across the board, you will be blocked at the administrator's noticeboard. desmay (talk) 01:55, 27 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

help on resolving a dispute

[edit]

@TheLionHasSeen currently i guess i am in an edit war with an editor, i am a new editor to wiki and generally edit church related article based on what's written in the sourced information and condense poorly structured article. Apparently an editor has been reverting my edits to its old state which has no citations or sources added to it and is also factually incorrect based on the available sources in the internet (article am talking about oriental orthodox churches in India ). this editor has also been previously reverted my other edits on oriental orthodox churches, even after discussing with him on the talk page. the editor also give very poor reasons with out sources to back his claims, Since i saw your edit contributions on church related matters, could you please guide me on what i should do and is it possible for you to help me out resolve this so the information can be added on the article Livingbeta (talk) 19:31, 7 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Livingbeta, I have seen that while you have desired to make some very needed expansive contributions to this encyclopedia; that some of your contributions have left more questions than answers. There definitely seems to be a WP:ADVOCACY of WP:CONFLICTOFINTEREST surrounding your contributions, especially with recent matters between the disputes of the Malankara Christians. Not only that, but there are huge grammatical errors as well, and I've had to revert some of your contributions in other articles for seeming POV-pushing. Then, there's an apparent lack of civility that I've noticed between you and others. - TheLionHasSeen (talk) 19:36, 7 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that there's quite a bit of civility issues Living has included in their messages, but it would do a lot of good if you ensured that your reversions had edit summaries, the lack of which seems to be heavily confusing Livingbeta. Aaron Liu (talk) 16:31, 14 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Aaron Liu, duly noted! Thank you. Sometimes, it can be done without an explanation by horribly multi-tasking. TheLionHasSeen (talk) 18:58, 14 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. You're invited to participate in The World Destubathon. We're aiming to destub a lot of articles and also improve longer stale articles. It will be held from Monday June 16 - Sunday July 13. There is over $3300 going into it, with $500 the top prize. If you are interested in winning something to save you money in buying books for future content, or just see it as a good editathon opportunity to see a lot of articles improved for subjects which interest you, sign up on the page in the participants section if interested. Even if you can only manage a few articles they would be very much appreciated and help make the content produced as diverse and broad as possible! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:17, 15 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

contentious topics

[edit]
This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in Assyrian, Chaldean, Aramean, and Syriac identity, culture, and politics. Due to past disruption in this topic area, the community has authorised uninvolved administrators to impose contentious topics restrictions—such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks—on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, expected standards of behaviour, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on these sanctions. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Hi, @Asilvering. Thank you for the information. Am I blocked from editing on those articles? I am a bit confused. - TheLionHasSeen (talk) 15:03, 22 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No, this is simply a warning that the topic area has special considerations. The links in the message should explain it, but if anything is unclear, please feel free to ask. By the way, if you have any interest in the topics of the names we use on wikipedia for Assyrian/Chaldean/Aramean/Syriac identities, and you might be interested in taking part in a moderated discussion on the topics, if you place yourself in the list at User:Asilvering/List of ACAS parties, when that process restarts again, the moderator will know to contact you so you're aware. Cheers. -- asilvering (talk) 03:28, 23 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
