List of people from Northampton

[edit]

Information icon Please do not introduce links in actual articles to draft articles, as you did to List of people from Northampton. Since a draft is not yet ready for the main article space, it is not in shape for ordinary readers, and links from articles should not go to a draft. Such links are contrary to the Manual of Style. These links have been removed. Thank you. - Arjayay (talk) 08:40, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
Thank you for your attention to this article, but I respectfully believe the proposed deletion misunderstands both Wikipedia’s notability criteria and Antoine Allen’s professional standing.
Under Wikipedia’s notability guidelines for journalists and public figures (WP:BIO, WP:JOURNALIST), Antoine Allen clearly meets the threshold for inclusion:
  1. Significant Coverage in Reliable Sources: Antoine Allen’s work has been widely covered, cited, and broadcast across national media. He is a full-time British journalist and presenter for ITV News, one of the UK's major national broadcasters. His official ITV News profile is publicly available: https://www.itv.com/news/meet-the-team/antoine-allen
  2. National and Industry Recognition: Allen is the 2024 winner of the Sports Journalists’ Association (SJA) 'Sport for Change' Journalism Award, competing against journalists from BBC, Sky, The Athletic, and DAZN. The SJA is the UK’s premier body for sports media professionals, and the award is considered highly prestigious within the industry. Citation here: https://www.sportsjournalists.co.uk/sja-journalism-awards/2024-sja-british-sports-journalism-awards-winners/
He was also shortlisted for the Royal Television Society (RTS) Award for Local Journalist of the Year in 2024 – another major industry benchmark for journalistic excellence: https://rts.org.uk/article/nominations-announced-rts-television-journalism-awards-2024
  1. Subject of Nationally Aired Journalism & Investigations: Allen regularly presents and produces reports on high-impact national issues. For example, his recent investigative report on shoplifting and organised crime was broadcast across the UK and published online by ITV: https://www.itv.com/watch/news/shoplifting-surge-london-sees-sharpest-rise/8thn72z
  2. Not to Be Confused With Others of the Same Name: The Antoine Allen in question is not the American director of the same name. They are two entirely separate individuals from different countries and professions. The subject of this article is a British broadcast journalist whose notability is supported by industry awards, media coverage, and verified work for a national broadcaster.
  3. Coverage by Third-Party Sources: His work has been quoted in independent news outlets, such as this article from The Mirror referencing one of his reports: https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/peckham-protest-shopkeeper-says-regrets-30928173
In summary, Antoine Allen meets and exceeds Wikipedia’s standards for notability of public figures and journalists. He has received significant independent coverage, national recognition, and is a prominent professional in his field. I respectfully request that the article be retained and improved rather than deleted.
Thank you. Twontastic (talk) 09:12, 5 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, you've missed the end of the deletion discussion, I'm afraid. Tacyarg (talk) 09:43, 5 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I have noticed. But, as you were the person that suggested this page should be deleted, I believe you should take better care. All of the above links were easy to find. Antoine is also a TV reporter, so there are many videos of his work on Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, and Facebook- many with hundreds of thousands of views. In future, fact check with my care and more due diligence. Twontastic (talk) 10:20, 5 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Wikipedia needs reliable sources to support biographies of living people; social media and YouTube are not necessarily reliable or independent. Do you know, work for or represent Allen? Tacyarg (talk) 10:42, 5 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia does need reliable sources, hence why the article included links from ITV News. ITV News is a respected news organisation based in the UK, but known globally. Youtube is not necessarily unreliable either- every major news outlet has a Youtube channel. This is where you could have found examples of Allen's work, as well as on the ITV/ITV News website. I do not work or know Allen.
I have recreated the page, this time with more citations from a range of non-social media sources.
I think you should admit you made a mistake. Twontastic (talk) 10:57, 5 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
I believe this page should not be deleted. I have submitted a contest. I believe the original page was deleted in error. And this new page is different to the original one- it has updated citations from a range of notable sources. Twontastic (talk) 11:01, 5 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

AfC notification: Draft:Antoine Allen has a new comment

[edit]
I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, which can be viewed at Draft:Antoine Allen. Thanks! Theroadislong (talk) 11:06, 5 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, thank you for your comment. I have changed the 'accolades' to shortlists. However, it is incorrect to say 'most of it is his own writing'. Allen is not a writer, he is a TV Presenter and reporter. Thus, the links are articles written by other journalists about his work or including his TV reports. It should be noted that as a TV presenter and reporter, Allen is an award winning journalist and a well known face for ITV. Also, the Sport's journalist Association awards, are a reputable award- they are the most prestigious award in sports journalism in the UK. Past winners include BBC News, Sky News, ITV News, Al-Jazeera and CNN. Twontastic (talk) 11:27, 5 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your submission at Articles for creation: Antoine Allen (May 20)

[edit]
Your recent article submission has been rejected and cannot be resubmitted. If you have further questions, you can ask at the Articles for creation help desk or use Wikipedia's real-time chat help. The reason left by S0091 was: This topic is not sufficiently notable for inclusion in Wikipedia. The comment the reviewer left was: The article was deleted less than a month ago via an AfD discussion. Time to move on. S0091 (talk) 17:06, 20 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This is a rewritten article. And, I have proof that one of the Wikipedia admins is a scammer, asking for money to approve articles. Hence, why the original article was taken down after being up for years. This article should never have been deleted, just as you should not have rejected this. This TV reporter was literally on ITV news national yesterday- he is more than notable to Wikipedia standards. Twontastic (talk) 15:55, 24 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
S0091 (talk) 17:06, 20 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Twontastic you were not contacted by an admin, please see this page. REAL_MOUSE_IRL talk 10:14, 26 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Twontastic, please send communications you have received from the scammer to paid-en-wp@wikipedia.org. S0091 (talk) 18:22, 29 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
