Draft article on Humanity's Last Exam

[edit]

Hey, I am a new editor and recently wrote my first bigger article draft on the HLE benchmark project: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Humanity%27s_Last_Exam

I know that the organizers of that project are planning to soon put out the first results, so I think the background information in the article might be quite interesting to many people. I would appreciate any feedback, and if someone here has the permissions to formally review this article, I would be very glad to quickly respond to any such suggestions, to hopefully include the article in the main wiki space soon. Thanks a lot! Jojo39~dewiki (talk) 12:38, 14 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Jojo39~dewiki: Thanks for developing the article.
Wikipedia is supposed to be a summary of what WP:Reliable sources say about a topic, and not what those close to a topic say about themselves. This article cites 8 sources, and at a glance, 4 of those sources are publications by the coordinators of this project.
Are you able to match claims in this Wikipedia article to sources which are independent of the project's organizers? Thanks. Bluerasberry (talk) 14:46, 15 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much, I really appreciate that you had a look! Indeed, I am aware that secondary sources should be preferred, and I had another look to see which of the five primary sources can be avoided.
1) The legal terms of the competition were cited as evidence that the money is sponsored by the company ScaleAI, but this in fact appears in the Reuters article, so that source can go.
2) A tweet by the organizer of the exam concerning the number of questions they are aiming for. This number is also mentioned in the Time article, so again this source has now been removed.
The remaining three sources are concerned with organizational details of the project which are not covered by secondary sources (yet):
3) The official blog post describing the nature of the questions they are looking for.
4) The submission form which mentions a list of possible areas of questions (e.g. philosophy) that are not covered by news articles.
5) A tweet by the organizer explaining that the original submission deadline has been extended.
I would think in cases of 3) and 4) the sources are just used to substantiate some straightforward, descriptive statements of facts about the project (which I would think is covered by WP:PRIMARY ?). Source 5) is maybe more borderline, but again it's mostly about an organizational detail, tweeted by the main organizer of the project. I could remove this additional information until more sources appear though, if that would be appropriate. Jojo39~dewiki (talk) 15:50, 15 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The HLE benchmark was released today (see the NYT article). I'll wait with adding the new information to the wiki draft article until that draft has passed the review process. Jojo39~dewiki (talk) 15:45, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
