Submission declined on 22 May 2025 by ToadetteEdit (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

Oliver Sachs (born 1970, in Munich)[1] is a German geologist and homeland researcher.
Personal life
[edit]Oliver Sachs (born 1970, in Munich) is a German geologist specializing in geology and geochemistry. He receive his PhD in 2007 from the University of Bremen.[2] Sachs began his career as a geoscientist at the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research, where he played a key role in the European Iron Fertilization Experiment (EIFEX), an international oceanographic project investigating the effects of iron fertilization on marine ecosystems.[3] His work contributed significantly to the understanding of carbon export and cycling processes at the water-sediment interface below the EIFEX study area in the deep sea. [4]
In 2009, Sachs transitioned to a geological consultancy in the canton of Aargau, Switzerland, conducting applied geoscientific research for the Swiss Federal Office of Energy[5][6][7] and the National Cooperative for the Disposal of Radioactive Waste (Nagra) [8][9][10], in collaboration with the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich. [11] Since 2013, Sachs has been employed at the German Patent and Trade Mark Office in Munich. He is a member of the The Meteoritical Society.
Sachs has published extensively in leading scientific and geological journals. His research focuses on the geology of the Nördlinger Ries impact crater and on meteorites found in Germany, particularly in Ribbeck. [12][13] He is also interested in the scientific history of the Ries region and the study of early geological maps and theories. Sachs has authored and co-authored numerous scientific articles and books, including works on the history of Ries research and the geology of impact structures.[14][15][16][17][18][19]
Awards and honors
[edit]- 2007: Doctoral prize 2007 for his work about carbon cycle of the foundation Alfred Wegener Institute in the Helmholtz Association (Foundation Alfred Wegener Institute as part of the Helmholtz Association)[20][21]
- 2020: Cannes Film Award 2020 for Scientific Consultation (together with Dieter Heinlein (in German)): Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards (Kategorie A14), Golden Dolphin for “Der Meteoriten Raum”.[22][23][24] The short film was produced as part of a fundraising campaign to secure the Stubenberg meteorite[25] which was found in Stubenberg, Bavaria[26]
