License information needed for File:Alexandrie Encore Et Toujours.jpg

[edit]

Hello, Awinda!

It was really helpful of you to upload File:Alexandrie Encore Et Toujours.jpg. However, in order to keep and use new images, they need to have a license.

If you can edit the description page and add the appropriate license, that would be great. If you're not sure how or need help, please ask at the media copyright questions page and we'll be happy to assist you.

Thanks again! --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 15:06, 13 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:African Jim.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:African Jim.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 14:05, 14 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Neutrality on A Brother With Perfect Timing

[edit]

I had to revert the synopsis on this article back to the one I previously wrote. The reason behind that is because the older synopsis is not neutral and had to be pruned down. The only place we can put non-neutral statements are in the reception section and even then they can only be in the form of quotes by notable persons. It's very easy to write non-neutral statements without realizing it, so I definitely recommend reading WP:NPOV and WP:NPOVFAQ. If you have any questions about neutrality that you want to ask a panel, definitely post on Wikipedia:Neutral point of view/Noticeboard.Tokyogirl79 (talk) 18:15, 16 February 2012 (UTC)tokyogirl79[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Bako le autre rive aka Bako, the other shore requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. "3.1 M-Net grants the user a non-exclusive license to access and make personal use of the content and services of AFL Site and not to modify it, or any portion of it, except with expresses written consent of M-Net. This license does not include any resale or commercial use of the site or its contents; any collection and use of any product listings, descriptions, or prices; any derivative use of this site or its contents; any downloading or copying of account information for the benefit of another merchant; or any use of data mining, robots, or similar data gathering and extraction tools." I'm afraid that use on Wikipedia is not covered by that clause in their terms and conditions. Text for use here must be licensed under Creative Commons and must not have a restriction on modifying. All articles on Wikipedia can be edited, and that would infringe their terms. Also, under "3.2 Users may only access and use the AFL Site, its content or any of the information or materials provided on the AFL Site, in a lawful manner and for the user's private or educational purposes. The AFL Site or any portion of it may not be reproduced, duplicated, copied, sold, resold, visited, or otherwise exploited for any commercial purpose ("commercial purposes") without express written consent of M-Net." causes a problem, as Wikipedia content is itself licensed under Creative Commons, and certain commercial undertakings use Wikipedia text and images. (They sell books of Wikipedia articles to people daft enough to buy what they could get for free here...) Apart from this, while they may have given you the go-ahead, they may not have realised the implications, and anyway, I'm afraid that we couldn't accept their permission given to you as legally sufficient. Please see WP:COPYVIO for more details of this, and how release of copyright could be made by AFL to us directly. (Has to come from them for legal reasons.) All this applies to images, too. There is a 'fair use' bit in our rules, which is explained in COPYVIO. The above clauses are quoted from http://www.africanfilmlibrary.com/Home/Terms and are the copyright of AFL © 2009 Electronic Media Network (PTY) LTD, quoted here under 'fair use'. Sorry, no intention to cause you offence or to doubt your word, and if you have doubts about what I've told you please contact User:Moonriddengirl, one of our top copyright people. Orphaned non-free image File:Bako L Autre Rive.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Bako L Autre Rive.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 06:46, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Awinda, I accept your invitation to be a part of WikiAfrica and I look forward to contributing significantly and meaningfully on the WikiAfrica platform. Thanks for the invitation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Osy (talkcontribs) 15:15, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Esther Mahalangu has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. - Happysailor (Talk) 13:58, 27 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Per your email communication, I have unblocked you. Sometimes, a blocked account is subject to an autoblock to the underlying IP. I have checked the Autoblock list, and there should be no autoblocks affecting you. If you attempt to edit and find that you cannot, please leave a note here, and we'll work that out.

However, please do not post any content from any other website until this discussion is resolved.

In your email, you indicate that MNet is a partner for you and has put a CC-By-SA license on their website now. We need to know where this license is located. Their copyright popup page still says, "Any duplication or copying of any pictures or text is prohibited and unlawful." Their Terms of Use popup says, "The contents and materials of this Web site, including, without limitation, any computer programs, software, icons, text, links graphics, images, sound clips or files, audio-visuals (including footage of Idols or any related event filmed via webcams, or other technologies whether now known or hereafter invented, by broadcasting, streaming or diffusion), trade names, logos, trade marks and service marks are protected by law, including, without limitation, copyright, patent and trade mark law, and are the property of Electronic Media Network Limited (M-NET), M-Web Business Solutions and Oracle Airtime Sales (PTY) Ltd. (hereafter referred to as "the Group") and/or third parties. Any unauthorised use, including, without limitation, reproducing in any manner or form, framing, linking, performing, broadcasting, transmitting in a diffusion service (including the Internet), adapting or modifying, letting, offering or exposing for hire or by way of trade a copy of, distributing and/or communicating or making available to the public by wire or wireless means, the contents or materials, or an adaptation of such contents or materials on this Web site is prohibited." Can you please provide a link to the CC-by-SA license on their site? If they have not yet placed such a notice, please let me know when they do.

In terms of the African Film Library, can you please ask them to clarify the CC-by-SA license to indicate what specifically is licensed? I'm afraid that the Terms of Use say nothing to expand on the license tag. The release we recommend would go something like this:

The text of this website [or page, if you are specifically releasing one section] is available for modification and reuse under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-Sharealike 3.0 Unported License.

If they want to release more than the text, they are, of course, welcome, and can expand it to include "text and images" or "text, images and video". --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:42, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Awinda,

It seems to me that an article you worked on, Mus'art Gallery, may be copied from http://www.artsmanagement.net/index.php?module=News&func=display&sid=1379. It's entirely possible that I made a mistake, but I wanted to let you know because Wikipedia is strict about copying from other sites.

It's important that you edit the article and rewrite it in your own words, unless you're absolutely certain nothing in it is copied. If you're not sure how to fix the problem or have any questions, there are people at the help desk who are happy to assist you.

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Abasuba Community Peace Museum, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.abasuba.museum/About%20us.html.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a search with the contents of National Gallery Zimbabwe, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: National gallery Zimbabwe. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, National Gallery Zimbabwe. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – National gallery Zimbabwe. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at National gallery Zimbabwe – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Gtwfan52 (talk) 08:25, 31 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you are interested, please contact either Marilyn [marilyn.doualabell@doualart.org] for the WikiAfrica Cameroon call or Isla [islahf@africacentre.net] for the WikiAfrica position in Cape Town.

If you are not interested in applying, I would be very grateful if you could spread this call far and wide among your networks to ensure that both projects get excellent candidates. Here is the link for the information page: http://www.wikiafrica.net/two-wikipedians-in-residence-for-africa/

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Wikimedian in Residence BoF at Wikimania 2017

[edit]

Hello!

My name is David Alves (User:Horadrim~usurped), and I'm an Wikipedian in Residence at RIDC NeuroMat (User:Horadrim). I've reach your contact through the Wikimedian in residence page in Outreach. As you may know, Wikimania 2017 is coming! I am here because, as a fellow WiR, I believe this would be a great opportunity for us to share experiences, discuss difficulties and exchange solutions, creating a community among us capable of supporting in other projects that would benefit from residents. In that sense, I have submitted a proposal of a Birds of a Feather activity to Wikimania that you can check out here. I hope to count with your support in this project and would like to invite you to join us if you participate in Wikimania. In case of any doubts, please feel free to contact me, either in my talk pages or by e-mail at david.alves(at)outlook.com.

Thank you very much! ‎Horadrim~usurped (talk) 00:33, 13 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. Notice

The article A Drink in the Passage has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable film, per WP:NF

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
