Proposed deletion of R.E. LeMon
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article R.E. LeMon, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- This article, as originally written, indicated that R. E. LeMon was the "Vice Chancellor of The Florida Board of Governors". Upon realizing that the man was actually one of the associate vice chancellors of the State University System of Florida, I rewrote the article appropriately. I can not see, though, how LeMon qualifies as notable under WP:ACADEMIC, and I find no sources to indicate that his accomplishments meet the general notability requirements of WP:NOTE or WP:BIO. Tim Ross (talk) 17:53, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. == Replaceable fair use Image:RCellon.jpg ==
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:RCellon.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Soundvisions1 (talk) 15:58, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
Reorganizing the various lists relating to Florida State University
[edit]I don't know if you are still watching this page or not, Jccort, but I felt that you might like to know of my current intention to reorganize and simplify the many lists of individuals having a connection with FSU since you were much involved with most of them.
I have just redirected List of Florida State University alumni to List of Florida State University people, after making sure that all names from "alumni" were in "people". I expect to do the same in the near future for List of Florida State University athletic alumni, List of Florida State University basketball players, List of Florida State University faculty, and List of Florida State University football players. My goal is to keep the information organized and consistent, avoiding the need for either multiple entries or multiple searches, and simplifying editing. Tim Ross (talk) 15:22, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
Respond as to why you reverted my editing of this article. What conflicting information? All of my information is scourced. If you claim to be retired, stay that way before you arbitrarily alter someone elses work. You are whats wrong with Wikipedia.A.B. Moon (talk) 00:36, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
Invitation
[edit]I was delighted to receive the invitation to participate in the WikiProject University of Florida but surprised to find, in this page, that you're "no longer active on Wikipedia." I'm familiar with the phenomenon, but if you care to let me know some of the details, which might be of some use to me in the future, please feel free to e-mail me.
Sincerely,

- Thanks for you kind message. I've already visited the WikiProject University of Florida, but I felt a bit lost there. I couldn't find a "to do" list. I feel like I need some guidance in order to make myself useful. Again, you're very welcome to help me by e-mail or my discussion page.

Was there a problem with the revisions I made? [1] You re-added information that hadn't been updated in 2 years or so and reinserted links to incorrect biographies. Not only that, you used your rollback privileges to do this action, not explaining it. Rollback privileges are not supposed to be used in articles unless it is a clear violation of policy (as they lack proper edit summaries). An explanation is due.. — ℳℴℯ ε 13:56, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
Prior to your reply on my talk page, I started a thread on Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents about your use of the rollback button and previous rollbacks made and an administrator removed your rollback access. Feel free to comment there. My advice is to wait a while (use the undo button instead leaving edit summaries) and familiarize yourself with the rollback feature at WP:RBK and then re-apply for the button in two or three months where you will surely get rollback again. — ℳℴℯ ε 22:21, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
Nomination for Deletion of Greek Life Articles
[edit]I did not just nominate the UF and FSU articles for deletion, I tagged all Greek Life articles that do not meet the general notability requirements in WP:UNIGUIDE. Saying that "We do not have room on the page for this" is not a valid explanation. The nomination for deletion template may not be removed from the page until the process is completed. Any further deletion will be noted as vandalism and you will be reported. If you feel the article should be kept, then explain why on the articles for deletion page.
While I am a UCF Alumni from over 20 years ago, you can look at my history and see I have made notable improvements to numerous Florida articles. --Scpmarlins (talk) 01:47, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
- Look the fact is you only decided to nominate to delete the UF/FSU Greek Life articles after another poster nominated the deletion of the UCF Greek Life. You also started the Wikiproject University of Central Florida, and copied wikiproject UF and wikiproject FSU to a tee. Also you have not done a mass purge of Greek Life articles on Wikipedia. You specifically targeted UF & FSU. Also you are in fact guilty of deleting the nomination for deletion for the UCF Greek Life article, and then you tried to cover it up in your talk page. Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello Jccort! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 331 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:
- Kurt Kelly - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
- Mark B. Rosenberg - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL

[edit]Please assume good faith in your dealings with other editors, which you did not on University of Florida. Assume that they are here to improve rather than harm Wikipedia. Derekstevens edits do not constitute vandalism and therefore you need to stop reverting them, claiming that they do. BAM! talk 02:46, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
Stop reverting the edits on University of Florida
[edit]Jccort, please stop reverting Derekstevens' edits on University of Florida. The edits do not constitute vandalism and are constructive, well-sourced, and helpful to the article. There is no reason to revert them and if you continue to do so you may be blocked from editing. BAM! talk 02:53, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. Please stop the disruption, otherwise you may be blocked from editing. ElKevbo (talk) 03:20, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
Re: vandalism complaint
[edit]I strongly advise you to read more about what is considered vandalism on Wikipedia at WP:VANDAL. Any good-faith effort to improve the encyclopedia, such as the edits made by Derekstevens, even if misguided or ill-considered, is not vandalism. Not assuming good_faith and edit warring with a user is against Wikipedia policy. BAM! talk 03:07, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
- I assume you saw I replied on my talk some time ago? Enigmamsg 08:03, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
- Not sure if you ever noticed Derekstevens' insertion of Jeffrey Dahmer as a prominent Florida alumnus (see bottom of diff [2]). I'm pretty sure that qualifies as WP:VANDALISM. LOL Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 03:53, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Reviewer granted
[edit]Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 05:41, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Dear Jccort, will you let me know what your sources are for removing both of my changes about A.W., which I made because on the official University of Florida webpage there is no record of him ever being a professor, but there is one from the Language Learning Center [3] claiming he was the lab's technician?
Also, please do not call my changes vandalism. They are hardly that. If I am mistaken, I'll accept that gladly, but you should not go around calling people's -- perhaps naively -- constructive changes vandalism. Template:Expand section
[edit]Hello Jccort, please do not add Template:Expand section across dozens of articles, as you did with your last hundred and fifty edits. Doing so is considered tag bombing or driveby tagging and is inappropriate. Expand section could theoretically be applied to all non good articles, but it is not. When tagging please apply this template conservatively. Thank you, Alpha Quadrant talk 23:05, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
- Also, please stop posting the same message across dozens of talk pages. Speedy deletion nomination of Florida Competitive Cheerleading
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Florida Competitive Cheerleading requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. — Jeff G. ツ 18:57, 12 August 2011 (UTC)
