Welcome!
[edit]Hello, Yelps, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of your recent edits to the page Alvania ignota did not conform to Wikipedia's verifiability policy, and may have been removed. Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations verified in reliable, reputable print or online sources or in other reliable media. Always provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed. Wikipedia also has a related policy against including original research in articles.
If you are stuck and looking for help, please see the guide for citing sources or come to The Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have.
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Again, welcome! Warriorglance (talk) 08:47, 9 February 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for your feedback. The edits I made on Alvania ignota were based of this article:
- I'm still learning how to cite sources and that's why the edits I made possibly couldn't be verified by Wikipedia's verifiablity policy. I'm mainly working on fixing any typos I may find or adding links where it's due. The bulk of my edits have primarily been adding more content on the Wikipedia article sunny bunnies. The newest edits on there have been made by me when I was still unregistered.
- Again, thanks for the feedback and I'll try to cite sources next time whenever I need to. Yelps (talk) 12:51, 9 February 2025 (UTC)

Wikipedia and copyright
[edit] Hello Yelps! Your additions to Fenimorea abscondita have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright and plagiarism issues. Here are the key points:
- Limited quotation: You may only copy or translate a small portion of a source. Any direct quotations must be enclosed in double quotation marks (") and properly cited using an inline citation. More information is available on the non-free content page. To learn how to cite a source, see Help:Referencing for beginners.
- Paraphrasing: Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information in your own words. Following the source's wording too closely can lead to copyright issues and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources as appropriate.
- Image use guidelines: In most scenarios, only freely licensed or public domain images may be used and these should be uploaded to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons. In some scenarios, non-freely copyrighted content can be used if they meet all ten of our non-free content criteria; Wikipedia:Plain and simple non-free content guide may help with determining a file's eligibility.
- Copyrighted material donation: If you hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license the text for publication here. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Copying and translation within Wikipedia: Wikipedia articles can be copied or translated, however they must have proper attribution in accordance with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. For translation, see Help:Translation § Licensing.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Persistent failure to comply may result in being blocked from editing. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Diannaa (talk) 15:20, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- that was copyrighted content? My bad, didn't know it was copyrighted. I'll try to improve and see my sources properly when making later edits. Thank you.Yelps (talk) 17:10, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
Not a lot
[edit]You don't really have a lot of userboxes. You should see my user-page! Leonardo da vin :D (talk|contrib.) 16:33, 1 March 2025 (UTC)
- I'm still adding them, it's a work in progress, planning to add more "joke" userboxes and statistics userboxes. And you have all those userboxes because you actively make more, right? Yelps (talk) 16:44, 1 March 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, @Yelps! I suggest looking into any userbox galleries to find more. Or you can look into my userboxes at User:Leonardo da vin/Userboxes, or you can learn to make some at WP:UBX and then make them at WP:UBXM. Leonardo da vin :D (talk|contrib.) 16:09, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
- FYI, editing at Wikipedia is about creating an encyclopedia, not spending a lot of time dressing up User pages. Liz Read! Talk! 17:41, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
- That's a secondary, you can see for yourself I have not edited my user page for more than a week.Yelps (talk) 15:35, 3 March 2025 (UTC)

Advice
[edit]Hello, Yelps,
Please do not start a discussion thread on WP:AN or WP:ANI unless it is about an urgent or intractable problem involving troublesome editors because by starting these discussions you are saying that this editor needs to have the focus on the entire administrator community on them. And you need to alert them by posting a notification on their User talk page as well. As you might imagine, this might be more attention than an editor, especially a new or inexperienced editor, deserves. No one enjoys having all of their edits scrutinized, I'm sure you wouldn't like it, so please only bring serious problems, where you have evidence of disruption, to a noticeboard.
If it is a situation where you just have suspicions, it's better to contact an admin directly on their User talk page rather than drawing attention by posting at a noticeboard. If you have more questions about this, please bring them to the Teahouse. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 17:48, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for your advice. The thing is I originally planned to talk about an actual vandal (the IP @66.59.52.106) with a little hatnote mentioning my suspects on ZOMG INCOMING. That IP made numerous actually provable vandalism and had gotten many warnings from many people. But for whatever reason, I decided to ditch that idea and decided to talk about ZOMG INCOMING instead. Foolish mistake and I don't even know why I decided to ditch that much better subject to talk about. I guess it's one of those mistakes where your brain just shuts down and you later have no idea why you even decided to do something. I'm sorry for that mistake but atleast I'm not trying to vandalize Wikipedia.Yelps (talk) 15:34, 3 March 2025 (UTC)
