Aerophones

[edit]

I noticed that you recently added the category of Aerophones to many instruments. I believe they should be removed, since these instruments are already in more specific sub-categories of aerophones (as they should be). Could you check your edits and make the appropriate adjustments? Thanks. - Special-T (talk) 22:08, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Again - PLEASE!! You are adding categories to instruments already listed in the proper sub-categories. Please clean up these edits, or at least stop doing this - others have to take the time to clean this up. Thank you. - Special-T (talk) 23:24, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I see that you created this category and later blanked the page. A faster way to delete a category you've created yourself is to place {{db-author}} on the page. This tag attracts the attention of an administrator who can perform the deletion for you. Contact me if you have questions about this. Best regards, --Stepheng3 (talk) 05:46, 4 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I wonder if you would like to explain your new category schemes at the Composers Project? I think it's important that everybody knows about your work. Thanks. --Kleinzach 04:31, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I can reedit, I have observed that in the English wiki you separate composers from song-writers.--Opus88888 (talk) 04:47, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's right. It's a big change so please explain it all at the Composers Project. --Kleinzach 04:49, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cuban folk music

[edit]
Well, for the purposes of the template, since all other countries have put their main article as the link, you had best do the same. Link to Music of Cuba. The history of Cuban music does not fit the folk music genre well, though 'traditional music' seems a better label. Now, there is a not very good Cuban folk music article, and a folk music category in WP (see bottom of article). If you want to improve the Cuban folk music article, you'ld best read Alejo Carpentier's Music in Cuba publ in La Habana 1945, English transl. 2001. There's also a lot of historical material in Music of Cuba, but it's put under other headings. Plus a lot of references: I bought a whole boxful of Cuban studies on their music when I wisited Havana and Santiago de Cuba: I never imagined they might have a practical use. Then along came Wikipedia! Macdonald-ross (talk) 17:48, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Corn Tortilla"

[edit]

In January you moved Tortilla (Mexico and Central-America) to Corn Tortilla with the comment "Short term". I think this important article has now been at a miscapitalization for far too long. Thoughts, plans? -- Infrogmation (talk) 16:53, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I went ahead and moved it to corn tortilla and moved the article previously there to an orphan fork to be merged, see Talk:Corn tortilla. Cheers, -- Infrogmation (talk) 17:24, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on William Cepeda, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Copyright Violation [2]

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Human.v2.0 (talk) 01:28, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OK, starting to head in a better direction, but please do not remove the speedy tag and instead leave {{hangon}} if need be; that way unless a few references get in there to validate a lack of copyright violation and admin can make the call themselves. --Human.v2.0 (talk) 01:36, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's good to see you taking an active interest in British food products. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Self-taught persons, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article that does not provide sufficient context to identify its subject. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Eeekster (talk) 07:09, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I do not believe we need to add this category to MSS. Probably every singer and carnatic musician can play the Tambura, but I doubt many are "professional" tambura players. I also feel that this whole category could be dropped, as the skill for playing a Tambura is minimal and we do not have awards for being a Tambura player, etc. VasuVR (talk, contribs) 15:27, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Amritvani requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. ▒ Wirεłεşş ▒ Fidεłitұ ▒ Ćłâşş ▒ Θnε ▒ ―Œ ♣Łεâvε Ξ мεşşâgε♣ 19:08, 25 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Opus88888! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Thank you for uploading File:Tortillas.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. FASTILYsock(TALK) 21:30, 17 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Antonio Soller has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. magnius (talk) 21:52, 30 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Saint. When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the text has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. If you were removing the content because you believe there is something wrong with it, then it would benefit all of us if you would share your concerns either in the edit summary, or on the discussion page, located here: Talk:Saint. A tag has been placed on Zainidin Imanaliev requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 23:21, 5 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

YouTube videos

[edit]

Hi, please remember that you can't link to YouTube videos that are copyright infringements (per WP:ELNEVER) - I removed the video link for R. Visweswaran. I also think you don't need to link Category:Indian musicians for articles like this, because Category:Carnatic instrumentalists and Category:Hindustani instrumentalists are subcategories so the top level category becomes redundant. Hekerui (talk) 09:13, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I noticed you changed Jew to Jaw. Were they all wrong? Ocaasi t | c 03:37, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, this probably needs to go on the talk page, but Wikipedia uses common language as well as specific language. So, even if there's no particular connection, if there's a widespread use of the term Jew's harp, we're in a more gray situation. Why do you think we should override common usage in this case? Do you think the article title should be changed as well? There's a way we can get feedback called requested moves, let me know if you think it would be useful. Ocaasi t | c 14:14, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I find it rather surprising that Jew's harp is the common name, since it just doesn't sound very modern or politically correct. This 'would' make for a good discussion on the article talk page. You might consider leaving an note there explaining the changes you made, and why, musicology-wise, they make sense. Ocaasi t | c 14:25, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits at Carnatic music

[edit]

A few issues:

  • The previous consensus at this page was that artist names should not be mentioned, as there is too much dispute as to the order in which artist names are to be mentioned and the images to be used at this article. Therefore, please do not introduce such images into the article.
  • The two other sentences you are attempting to introduce in the lead section do not appear to be appropriate to what that section of the article is designed for. Also, there would need to be some coverage of this material elsewhere in the article, but the issue is it should not be given undue weight and it should not consist of purely synthesised content. I have reverted your edit, so you will need to discuss this before it can be reintroduced into the article. Ncmvocalist (talk) 10:08, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits on Bhajan Sopori

[edit]

Hi Opus, you have deleted the section on notable instruments (infobox) in the Bhajan Sopori page. While I appreciate your effort to edit and improve the article, the infobox for musicians is designed in such a way as to create a section for notable instruments. Kindly do not remove that again. I have reinstated it. -Ambar (talk) 15:54, 12 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of WIS International

[edit]

Hello Opus88888,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged WIS International for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks, Gbawden (talk) 09:11, 1 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Do not remove or blank out sourced information in articles simply because you disagree with it. Your claim that calling Johnny Cash "one of the most important artists of the 20th century" is "exaggeration" is utterly irrelevant. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Johnny Vazquez requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. 舎利弗 (talk) 06:24, 22 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

List of recorder music

[edit]

Hi Opus. I'm about to comment out the changes you made to List of recorder music because it is a "list of Wikipedia articles on music written expressly for the recorder". I can see why you added van Eyck, but as yet there is no article on Der Fluyten Lust-hof. I originally meant the list just to point to articles on music for the recorder, not to be a list of composers who have written for the recorder. Do you think this should be widened, and if so can you undertake it? I have neither the knowledge nor time to generate a comprehensive list. If you would like to take it forward, perhaps we need to give some thought to changing the lead, and possibly dividing pieces from composers? I don't wish to be accused of WP:OWN, so a consistent approach from someone else would be welcome. BTW, user:Oiyarbepsy the added {{unreferenced}} tag which I think is quite wrong in a list and merely distracts readers. I did challenge him on his talk page, but he seems quite convinced that he is right and will never be proved wrong. As the creator I felt it inappropriate to remove the tag from a reviewer. Perhaps you would care to consider the matter and only if you disagree with him change it. Regards, Martin of Sheffield (talk) 23:31, 2 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

User talk:Oiyarbepsy/2014#List of recorder music is the discussion in question, where I said: "However, if lists are exempt from needing sources or if you have a third opinion, I'm willing to be proven wrong, but only if I am wrong, which never happens :)". The I'm-never-wrong comment I thought was an obvious joke. Again, Martin, if you can show I'm wrong, I'm perfectly willing to remove the tag. Also, my personal opinion, red links are okay on this page. Oiyarbepsy (talk) 00:54, 3 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! I'm curious about the page you created on the philosophical concept of unicity. In looking for other sources to flesh out the article, the only references to unicity as a philosophical concept I am coming across are those attributed to the medieval muslim philosopher Averroes, generally referred to as Averroes unicity thesis. The basic premise is that all human intelligence is part of one unified intellect, which is entirely different from the concept as presented in the article as it stands.Even the spanish language citation that you've provided doesn't seem to support exactly what you've written. I'm not a philosopher (just a very amateur student of philosophy), so before making any changes I thought I would check with you for clarification. Many thanks nerdgoonrant (talk) 15:39, 14 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for creating Relleno negro, Opus88888!

Wikipedia editor Blythwood just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:

Looks like a great addition! I felt it could do with a few more sources so I added some from Google Books and linked some of the terms I wouldn't expect an English-speaking audience to know like epazote. Hope that's OK.

Supporting Indian Wikipedia Program resource distribution

[edit]

In 2017 - 2018, the Wikimedia Foundation and Google working in close coordination with the Centre for Internet and Society (CIS), Wikimedia India chapter (WMIN) and user groups will pilot a program encouraging Wikipedia communities to create locally relevant and high-quality content in Indian languages. This program (Code name: Project Tiger) will:

(a) Support active and experienced Wikipedia editors through the donation of laptops and stipends for internet access and
(b) Sponsor a language-based contest that aims to address existing Wikipedia content gaps.

The objective of the program is to provide laptops and internet stipends for existing editors who need support to contribute more actively. 50 basic model Acer Chromebooks and Internet stipends for 100 contributors are available for distribution. Provided resources are the sole property of the beneficiaries and should be used for the betterment of the movement.

If you're an active Wikimedian, and interested to receive support from this project, please apply. It will take around 10 minutes of your time, and will ask descriptive questions about your contribution to Indic Wikimedia projects.

Markolino Dimond moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Markolino Dimond, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the confirms on the Articles for Creation template atop the page. — Zawl 08:17, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The article Saoco has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The article, as it stands today, is simply an acknowledgment that the drink exists. I think that it requires a bit more in terms of sourcing.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Capt. A tag has been placed on Acapulco Chair requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://en.arprmexico.com/post/acapulco-chair-the-original-mexican-chair. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Notice

The article Ball pump needle has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Wikipedia:Wikipedia is not a dictionary. Source does not indicate notability

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Tortita

[edit]

Information icon Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. A page you created or have recently made significant changes to, Tortita (Mexican food), may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for pages, so it has been blanked and redirected to Fritter#Mexico. Three typical reasons for this are that: (1) the article's subject appears to fail our notability guidelines; (2) the article is unsourced; or (3) the sources used in the article are unreliable. The page's history is preserved and it is possible to restore the article: If you believe that this page should remain included on Wikipedia or that this action was taken in error, then you may revert the edit that blanked and redirected the page.

Wikipedia:Your first article has more information about creating articles, and you may also want to read our introduction page to learn more about contributing. Thank you. Dclemens1971 (talk) 16:00, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
