Control copyright icon Hello SSBelfastFanatic! Your additions to Ain't I Right have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source. You must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. Read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Our policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Leoneix (talk) 13:21, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, SSBelfastFanatic,

Ways to improve Douglas Woolley

[edit]

Hello, SSBelfastFanatic,

Thank you for creating Douglas Woolley.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

This is a very well constructed article but the notability is very thin here? No real significant coverage on him by any quality source as a notable person. There are bits and pieces so I will give it a pass but the lack of a quality SIGCOV source means that this could still end up in articles for delection at some stage (although the bits that exist could still save it). God bless your enthusiasm for the general subject and thanks.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Aszx5000}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Puhŭng station requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Attributing translations

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you translated text from one or more pages to another page. While you are welcome to translate Wikipedia content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing requires that you provide attribution to the contributor(s) of the original article. When translating from a foreign-language Wikipedia article, this is supplied at a minimum in an edit summary on the page where you add translated content, identifying it as a translation and linking it to the source page. Sample wording for this is given here. If you forgot, or were not aware of this requirement, attribution must be given retroactively, for example:

NOTE: Content in the edit of 01:25, January 25, 2023 was translated from the existing French Wikipedia article at [[:fr:Exact name of French article]]; see its history for attribution.

Retroactive attribution may be added using a dummy edit; see Repairing insufficient attribution. It is good practice, especially if translation is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{translated page}} template on the talk page of the destination article. If you have added translated content previously which was not attributed at the time it was added, you must add attribution retrospectively, even if it was a long time ago. You can read more about author attribution and the reasons for it at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. asilvering (talk) 20:34, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I assume this affects Lutz Büscher - can you repair the attribution here, and anywhere else you may have incorporated cross-wiki translations? Thank you! -- asilvering (talk) 20:35, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article The New Order: Last Days of Europe has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The article does not meet WP:GNG, as it contains only a single notable source, that being an article in Wargamer. Other sources include forum posts, wiki articles, and a student newspaper article.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Nomination of The New Order: Last Days of Europe for deletion

[edit]
A discussion is taking place as to whether the article The New Order: Last Days of Europe is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The New Order: Last Days of Europe until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article until the discussion has finished.

SS Dixie Arrow Teamwork

[edit]

Hello, PhoenixCaelestis! I've had some intrest in your SS Dixie Arrow article for sometime. I saw that you want this to become an A-rank article, and I would like to help out - the reason that I asked first is to avoid us steeping on each other's toes. I can serve as the peer review that was requested, as I see some places the article can be improved. GGOTCC (talk) 21:22, 6 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

That would be much appreciated, thank you! -Emily (PhoenixCaelestis) (talk) 21:30, 6 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'll post this on the article's talk page for others as well:

Running list of helpful information, to be expanded:
- Before hitting A-grade, this article should meet GA status first. One of the most important aspects regards the sources - as of now, the article heavily relies on websites. Instead, it would be helpful to focus on written texts from Archive.org (search "Dixie Arrow" for texts) for more reliable information.
- My current mark of shame, User:GGOTCC/sandbox, is an article with a shocking similarity. While the refrence system is shot and is too long, it would be very benificial to see what additional information (ie. on the U-boat, the ship's design, economic context, quotes) can be added to this article. GGOTCC (talk) 22:00, 6 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I found a source that is a complete gold mine of information, and through that I've added more information on the sinking and a new section on the ship's service. I'd appreciate it if you could go in and fix errors that are probably present. I'm going to come back to this article this weekend and add more on the ship's service based on that source. Thank you again for being willing to help with this! -Emily (PhoenixCaelestis) (talk) 16:43, 7 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sure thing! Thank you for such a great article and being so open to improvement! I'll be making periodic edits to the article, and I also recomend you review Good Article Criteria and a few examples, such as SS West Nohno or SS Irish Oak (1919) for insperation and to see what can qualify for A-rank status. I'll leave my ideas on the article talk page from now on. GGOTCC (talk) 21:23, 7 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
+ her sistership SS China Arrow and SS India Arrow are also GA-rank! These would be great references...perhaps one one of us should also work on a article for the entire class? GGOTCC (talk) 21:31, 7 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Noticed both China and India, haha. I've been using them as a reference where I think I can. There's three other ships listed on the blueprints of Dixie Arrow: Yankee Arrow, Empire (?) Arrow, and Levant Arrow. If specifications can be found on those, then that's further we can add to Dixie Arrow's page. Also, I'm in favor of an idea for a page about the entire class, maybe something along the lines of Big Four (White Star Line) or similar articles, with smaller sections with each ship that links to their main pages when appropriate. -Emily (PhoenixCaelestis) (talk) 23:25, 7 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

To serve Russia

[edit]

Hello PhoenixCaelestis Is the full text of the lyrics at Draft:To Serve Russia not subject to copyright? You do not indicate its origin, but I think that the author is Ilya Reznik (and music by Eduard Khanok), both of who are still living. If so, I don't think that the text can be hosted on WP. - Davidships (talk) 03:44, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'll take it off, my apologies. -Emily (PhoenixCaelestis) (talk) 12:06, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Missspoongal on User:Missspoongal (02:39, 13 February 2025)

[edit]

Hello I'm the curator/president of a new museum in Iowa. And would like to add information about this unique museum in Davenport IA --Missspoongal (talk) 02:39, 13 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I don’t see why not, as long as it’s not a horribly long section on the museum. Is there any news article or something similar you could use to cite the museum or its opening? As long as you can get that, it should be good for the article. You might want to declare a conflict of interest but I’m not sure, since it’s in a pre-existing article and not a new one. I’d mention that you’re the president/curator in your edit summary. Thanks for reaching out! -Emily (PhoenixCaelestis) (talk) 10:55, 13 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Posledniy geroy (song) moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Posledniy geroy (song). Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit for review" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:38, 13 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Respectfully, I see no reason why it should have been moved to draft space in the first place. I translated the Russian version of the article, so it should be fine. I'm moving it back to main space. If you have any further problems, please message me first before doing something to my work. Thank you. -Emily (PhoenixCaelestis) (talk) 16:40, 13 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Emily, just fyi that when you're replying to a template message like this, you often have to ping the sender if you want them to notice it, since it's common for editors not to auto-subscribe to template messages.
Regarding the draftification, you've only got a single source on the article, so that's a very common reason for things to be draftified. Other language wikipedia editions often have really different notability guidelines and enforcement. ru-wiki in particular is full of really unreliable sources that don't meet en-wiki standards, so you have to be pretty careful translating from there even when there are enough sources.
In this case, given the band in question, I'm almost certain the song meets our notability criteria, but if you could find another source or two to add to the article, that would be a great help and allow us to remove the notability tag. Given that most new page patrollers aren't going to be Soviet post-punk fans, I strongly suspect this article will end up at WP:AFD soon if you don't do this. -- asilvering (talk) 20:11, 3 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The Original Barnstar
Great job on the SS Dixie Arrow article, and thank you for your cooperation! I hope to see it become a GA article soon! GGOTCC (talk) 20:02, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, I love your videos! ;) GGOTCC (talk) 20:03, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Also I don't quite know what you mean by my videos, I don't have a YouTube channel haha (though some of my other internet accounts do share names with YouTubers and people occasionally will mistake me for them). -Emily (PhoenixCaelestis) (talk) 20:06, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, and thank you again for all of your work on it as well. If I end up submitting it for a FA (ideally for March 26, probably 2026), I'll add you as a co-contributor: you helped a ton with the article, thank you again. -Emily (PhoenixCaelestis) (talk) 20:04, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'll be honored, but it is your choice! GGOTCC (talk) 20:05, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Also minor technical thing that’s been bugging me for a bit: There’s supposed to be a break and start a new paragraph in sinking following “ Most of the ship's crew was eating breakfast, and none of them that were on watch saw the torpedoes coming” and its sources, but it either makes it a giant gap or won’t register it at all. Your help with that would be appreciated, haha. -Emily (PhoenixCaelestis) (talk) 20:34, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I do not see anything wrong on my side. There is a normal paragraph break where you described it. Did you just fix it? GGOTCC (talk) 22:52, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No, on my end it still shows as being one line. When I go into visual editor, it shows two small arrows pointing down and to the left, but no paragraph break (I already tried
in source). This is driving me absolutely crazy and I find it hard to believe it’d be a client side issue - I’ve checked on two devices now. -Emily (PhoenixCaelestis) (talk) 22:57, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I see what you mean. Can you check now? I added the linebreak < br > (without spaces) and that seemed to work. GGOTCC (talk) 23:11, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, seems to be fixed. Thank you! -Emily (PhoenixCaelestis) (talk) 16:44, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for thanks

[edit]

Thanks for the thanks re the edit I undid on Lent—it's never very enjoyable undoing something that was meant as an improvement.

For what it's worth, the first time I saw something similar I thought it was a formatting error too. I reverted your edit because you'd accidentally deleted a chunk of text and it was the easiest way to restore it.

Maybe you already know this, but in case you don't: if you come across an unfamiliar template and want to know what it is, starting a search with template: will usually find it. (In this case it was {{Citation needed span}}, which goes around the text it refers to.) Musiconeologist (talk) 21:10, 3 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, thank you for the info. I’ll remember that for next time. -Emily (PhoenixCaelestis) (talk) 21:17, 3 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Pourtigesesquirllatschool41243 (16:58, 5 March 2025)

[edit]

hi I use this is my first account I would like to mention that their was no option to say partially on language tho I would like to say that in school I started learning Scottish Gaelic but decided to not do that cus it would not be useful and switch to learning German which I'm still learning. do get to the point I would like to know that since I'm learning German and stopped learning Scottish Gaelic I'm still allowed to say I can read it I'm just asking since I'm worried --Pourtigesesquirllatschool41243 (talk) 16:58, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Pourtigesesquirllatschool41243,
Please correct me if I am wrong, but it appears you're asking if you're allowed to say that you can read Scottish Gaelic? You absolutely are! As a point of interest, English Wikipedia has many sister projects across languages, including versions in Scottish Gaelic and German. Your account here allows you to edit any language version of Wikipedia, though they are not connected and things like your settings and edit count will not save across languages versions. You can certainly edit all of these language versions if you would like. You can also translate articles from one language into another. Go to the dropdown menu in the top right-hand corner of your screen and select "Translations" to try that out.
I hope you enjoy your time on this website. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask me. I'm on almost every day, so you should get a response within about 12 hours at the most. Welcome to Wikipedia, and happy editing! -Emily (PhoenixCaelestis) (talk) 17:26, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Njet Molotov wikipage

[edit]

Good evening, I would like to ask a question about the removal of my edits on the njet molotoff wiki page about the "Russian Versions" of the songs. You removed them because you cited that youtube is not a worthy source of information, yet you kept the Ukrainian version. I belive if the Russian versions are to be removed, so too has the ukranian one, or both should be kept. Thank you for your understanding. DaManegrgeim69 (talk) 01:18, 8 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Neither source of the Ukrainian version is YouTube..? They're both Finnish websites and should be kept. I will be removing the Russian versions once more. I do not wish to start an edit war, so if you can find me sources to back the existence of the Russian parodies (that is not YouTube or similar knockoffs) then I will keep it. -Emily (PhoenixCaelestis) (talk) 02:19, 8 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
