Reason: Recent spate of disruptive dynamic IP edits. Possibly more than one person - recent edits have included whitewashing/lauding a self-confessed Hitler admirer, and adding unsourced categories despite edit notes. Reason: High level of IP vandalism. Current requests for reduction in protection level
[edit]Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Reason: The article about this veteran UK television and radio presenter has been protected since 2011, with little vandalism since. Frankster04 (talk) 21:04, 19 June 2025 (UTC)
Comment: "The protection is working" is not a reason to unprotect. Sumanuil. (talk to me) 07:10, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Unprotection?: This article was semi-protected indefinitely in 2023 following this request to 'Please restore the indefinite semi protection that was removed following a short extended confirmed protection that has since expired.' Looking at the article's protection log, however, there wasn't an indefinite semi-protection that came before the extended confirmed protection. It was semi-protected for three months from 11 May to 11 August that year, before being upgraded to a one-month extended confirmed protection on 11 July for the remaining duration. Before that, it wasn't indefinitely semi-protected, so the request to restore the previous protection was illogical. The protecting administrator was last active about six months ago. I'm fine if the protection is still nessecary, given the article's pretty long protection log and the fact that the other North African country articles (Libya, Sudan and Tunisia) also got semi-protected indefinitely last year (see here, here and here). Current requests for edits to a protected page
[edit]Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
There are reports of the new regime in Syria allowing Israeli jets to use its airspace, so Syria could now be listed as 'support' or 'proxy' on Israel's behalf. Israeli leaders have made no secret that they played a role in the dismantlement of the Assad regime through the weakening of Hezbollah, and deterring Iranian planes.
Additionally, there are allegations of unofficial support from Iraqi Kurdish groups and relations with Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as back-channel support from Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco.
Germany supports Israel and Merz has made that clear. Italy also supports. Probably limited Canadian and Australian support too. While, the Netherlands and Denmark also participated in "Operation Prosperity Guardian" in the Red Sea against the Houthis in Yemen.
On the other hand, Iran is supported by Iraq, Qatar, Turkey, Russia, North Korea, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
It is not 'just' Israel and its Western allies and anti-regime Iranian proxies against the Iranian regime and its proxies in Gaza, Lebanon, Iraq and Yemen, but politically it is much more nuanced and many other countries are definitely involved here behind-the-scenes. 188.214.15.197 (talk) 15:05, 19 June 2025 (UTC)
- Edit requests to that article should follow the WP:EDITXY guidelines because it is covered by 'contentious topics' rules. If the proposed changes do not follow those guidelines there is almost no chance that they will be implemented. And any claim should be accompanied by reliable sourcing that supports the claim. Sean.hoyland (talk) 15:33, 19 June 2025 (UTC)
In the sentence: "The IDF hit a building where several senior officials of Iran's intelligence organizations were staying, was targeted, killing Iran's intelligence chief and other key senior officials." remove:"was targeted," because the sentence doesn't work as is. This seems like the result of an edit that rephrased the sentence but didn't properly remove part of the old one. Parcynthia (talk) 16:08, 19 June 2025 (UTC)
The Israeli casaulties have changed over the night with new Iranian strikes. I want to change the Current Casaulties from 24 Killed to 53, i have the sources needed. And to change the 2,345 injured to 2,585 injured for which i also have sources. Pkk123477 (talk) 18:53, 19 June 2025 (UTC)
Including this : " the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) found Iran non-compliant with its nuclear obligations for the first time in 20 years." has no bearing in the conflict per-se and is misleading the reader, as it just reads as a excuse for Israel assassinations
Moreso when :
There's no mention of the IAEA and CIA confirming Iran's claims of NOT working towards a Nuclear Weapon, while the US President publicly dismissed both reports ( Wich gives them credibility beyond doubt ) . These reports long predates the first Israel attack in the current War.
These news are all over internet by now. Shouldnt be hard to find sources, but i can do it easily.
I believe it should be noted in the opening of the article, as it is Israel's Claim/Excuse to attack Iran and it is being refuted by every involved party.
Removing/swaping the extract i quoted with the original reports will reflect the real ( reported ) status of the issue, and not just a narrative pushed by one side. 181.116.43.82 (talk) 04:45, 20 June 2025 (UTC)

Hello, I would like to request AWB user rights to assist with link retargeting and related maintenance tasks on the English Wikipedia, specifically as it pertains to comics-related articles. My primary goal is to efficiently update links to comply with WP:NCC, ensuring that pages link to the current, correct article titles. While I have been using the Move+ tool, I find that it does not fully meet the scale and complexity of my ongoing work, especially when dealing with numerous backlinks and links with section anchors or piped text. AWB’s batch editing capabilities and advanced find-and-replace options are essential for streamlining these tasks and maintaining consistency across many pages. Additionally, I have experience using tools like the redirect helper for managing redirect categorization templates, which complements the link updating work I intend to perform using AWB. I am committed to following Wikipedia’s guidelines and best practices when using AWB. Thank you for considering my request. Best regards, Red Shogun412 (talk) 22:12, 17 June 2025 (UTC)

New page reviewer[edit]
I frequently already have a habit of patrolling recent changes, and more recently, pending changes. I have a solid understanding of the basic guidelines that are necessary for articles to be established—I believe my own created articles can generally showcase this. While I do not regularly participate in XfDs, I do understand their purpose and when to utilize the processes (speedy, PROD, XfD) needed. Happy for any feedback or questions that may be necessary. Thanks in advance. haj • talk 16:55, 16 June 2025 (UTC)

Pending changes reviewer[edit]
I want to have this permission to reduce the pending changes backlog. I reviewed all the guidelines, such as BLP and the guideline for referencing. I revert good faiths and obvious vandalism and warn the user right after. Although I cannot perform a rollback to the recent changes page to have a consecutive track record due to my device's limited capabilities. I would rather choose pending changes over rollback; with rollback, I must have track records of mass rollback vandalism. But since I understood the guideline of rollback and pending changes, I can assure you that I will be responsible for having this permission. — ArćRèv • talk 10:38, 24 May 2025 (UTC)

Rollback[edit]
I'm re-requesting rollback to use tools that require this permission to more effectively combat vandalism. I believe I should have a high enough edit count. GalStar (talk) 03:58, 12 June 2025 (UTC)
I was graciously referred here by Myrealnamm. My primary focus on Wikipedia is anti-vandalism work, so rollback would naturally be useful for me. I have read WP:ROLLBACK and feel like I have a good grasp on detecting good/bad faith edits. (I'd certainly hope so, if I got this far.) Thanks for your consideration. ⫷doozy (talk▮contribs)⫸ 05:07, 12 June 2025 (UTC)
Rollback appears useful for various reverts in specific instances when a serious vandal has made a rapid-fire succession of edits which need to be reverted. I enjoy using RedWarn, but rollback itself is handy here also for the AntiVandal tool I see. I have made around 70,000 edits and feel I qualify as a good candidate for this permission. I have made almost 6,000 edits to Wikipedia and have been reverting vandalism for a few years using Twinkle and UltraViolet. I am familiar with the guidelines and processes of reverting and rollbackers would be helpful. SKAG123 (talk) 01:19, 14 June 2025 (UTC)
I have over 500 mainspace edits without vanishing the articles. I am not the vanished user. I will not be blocked if I’m not vanishing the pages. In late 2023, I did revert a few articles that were vanished by the IPs. So, I will grant my Rollback right soon. Thomasfan1916 (talk) 04:31, 14 June 2025 (UTC)
Hello, I would like to request rollback rights to support my anti-vandalism work. I have been actively patrolling recent changes and reviewing edits for potential vandalism, often using filters and tools like ORES. I’ve been reverting obvious vandalism manually and warning users where appropriate. I’m interested in increasing my efficiency with tools like Huggle and STiki, which require rollback rights. I understand the responsibilities of the rollback tool and will use it only for clear-cut vandalism or disruptive edits, not content disputes. Thank you for considering my request. Dahawk04 (talk) 17:40, 14 June 2025 (UTC)
I will request my rollbacker rights, so I can use AntiVandal tool. I've most frequently used Twinkle on my Gadgets since I'm autoconfirmed. After they reverted my edits for not following WP:MOS guideline, as well as vandalism. Absolutiva (talk) 21:33, 14 June 2025 (UTC)

I was trying to revert a vandalism edit, but the disruptive editor had done multiple, making it harder for me to revert it. It would have been helpful to have rollback rights so I could undo it fully and quickly. Floating Orb (talk) 20:11, 17 June 2025 (UTC)

"Do you want to take a survey?"
[edit]On Feb. 12, 2005, I did a random pages survey. Out of 100 random pages, only 1 was a U.S. town. That's progress. Three towns in the UK, 1 in Spain and 1 in Portugal also turned up. Overall biographies were the largest category at 22%, followed by geography with 15% total. Then Lists at 7%, Disambiguation pages at 6%.
On Feb. 24, 2006, I repeated the 100 random page survey, this time getting 5 U.S. towns. Overall, geography had 26%, biography 21%, fiction 9%, music 4%, colleges 4%, lists 3% and disambigs 4%. Clearly geography and biography are our largest areas. Music, science and business scored less than I expected. Non-individual History was hardly discernable.
Even by Feb. 2005, 100 out of almost 500,000 was not statistically significant but was as much as I had patience for.
